Phil-I was attempting to welcome OCI back with a veiled reference to the 3 Amigos postings of OCI awhile back. Sorry if my nonusage of the English language upsets you. Please accept my apology.

On the subject on VT fans, I agree they are a good bunch of folks. Always enjoy visiting with them in our travels.

They are very different types of DEs and they bring different strengths to the table. The most obvious difference is the fact that Taylor is a weak-side DE whereas Phillips is a true stong-side DE.

Taylor has an amazing first step and burst off of the edge and is going to be a handful for tackles with his speed and a nightmare for QBs lined up next to the 3 amigos we got at DT in this class. But he's not as complete of a DE as Phillips is at this point.

Phillips is bigger (more filled out) and stronger than Taylor at this point which is going to help him get off blocks and play the run. He's also a good athlete with the potential to put pressure on the QB but he doesn't have any where near the burst/speed that Taylor was blessed with.

They're both great players with a ton of potential and I still really hope we can add Phillips to this class even if that means that we have to let one of our current commits go. I hate that part of recruiting but sometimes it's neceasary to put together the best class possible and giving yourself the best chance of winning at a high level. Having a great defensive line wins you championships in this league and we are well on our way to having one. Phillips and Taylor's styles compliment one another very well and they would be an ideal tandom lined up on opposite ends of the line. I think we are on the outside looking in with Phillips but this staff has taught me to never count them out with a recruit so until he chooses another school I'm going to hold out hope that we can get him to don the orange and white.
