I've seen Henderson play, and he has the ability to play that SLB/WDE role. I think Ford and Taylor fit that mold as well. Don't quote me on this, but I believe Henderson clocked an electronic 4.7 forty in camp here. His only problem out of high school was being to skinny to play SEC ball right away.

UT doesn't need 4 DE in this class. Unless they are less than pleased with what they recruited and already have on campus. J. Johnson and Henderson both appear headed for RS. Barnett and Hendrix are solid SDE. And, even then 4 is way too many.
So, either the speculation about Dylan Jackson moving to OT is correct, or one of these doesn't stick. Question, has DJ been playing O-line for Maryville this year?

It's about DEPTH, more than anything. Butch knows that we NEED to have the kind of quality depth that Bama has, where you can send in the 2nd and 3rd team guys without a big drop in production.

So, that's what we're building....depth. But Taylor is also a talented TE, and can stick at OLB. I doubt even the staff knows who is going to play where, exactly....in regards to Dylan Jackson and Taylor. They'll be a good fit at a number of positions....great problem to have.

Taylor certainly has a wicked inside move. Watch the video at the bottom of the page:

I don't think we are near done. Actually, I'd put more money on us signing 4-5 new players by NSD than I would with us sitting still or signing only one more player. I think Martin at CB, Walker at WDE, and Jefferson a WR will be vols come NSD. That's 3 new signings alone, not counting other guys we are in on. Sit back and enjoy this process. CBJ is the mad scientiest and we have the pleasure of enjoying his wicked potion when he's done.

Again, reading comprehension my dude. He specifically mentioned how Jackson wants to play defense and the staff is now trying to persuade him to OL. I also never said we would tell Ford to look around but UF is coming on strong and him flipping wouldn't surprise me.

Jakob Johnson was moved back to LB, was he not? Running 2nd team behind AJ I thought.

If he were thrust into action at MLB, he wouldn't be making the calls. Maggitt or JR-M would take that duty over from their spot. I could have sworn that he was moved back to LB and there was talk on here about it. Oh well.

He was moved back to LB, though the coaches haven't come out and said whether he's playing outside or inside.

Posters close to Jakob, however, gve said he's been playing as AJ's backup.

Something I've been meaning to ask for a while: Do you think the coaches would consider moving Curt back to MLB next year to take advantage of his knowledge of the defense? Seems like he could take over for AJ with no real hiccups.

In camp they said JRM understood the defense better than anyone else and he could easily slide inside. I know hes not nearly as big as AJ but he could pack on a few more lbs and slide inside next year if Jakob isnt ready.
