'15 VA DE/OLB Ricky DeBerry

Yep. Evidently he brought his entire family with him: parents, cousin, sibs. Must've liked us enough in his previous trips to want to show us off to his fam. We'll no doubt make his round of upcoming cuts

He's been at UT twice in two weeks. Dad is apparently a UT fan. Gotta like our chances.

Sapp is #1 on the board per VQ. Baker is #2. DeBerry is likely #3

DeBerry is probably being looked at as a defensive end. I read a report on TOS that he's already up to 250lbs. I would imagine him and Phillips may be the 2 DEs we end up with.

Man I'm dumbfounded by your recent negativity. You have been a quality poster for a long time and now you appear to be diviing into senility. Are you excited about anything or is all hellfire and brimstone?

Huh? I'm being negative?

Not sure if serious.....

:detective:

In Butch we trust...Doofus has made us all shell shocked but Butch will get it done and has done nothing to make me doubt that.

The post you quoted was a bit of a joke about how many schools the young man is still considering at this stage of the recruiting cycle. Negative? Nah....

“And my dad really wanted to go back to Tennessee for a visit, so he just drove all of us to Tennessee. It was good. It was real good. I got to see all the coaches again, and I got to relax and have fun.

“Just being able to talk to some of the other recruits I’m good friends with and see some of them committing, it was just a good weekend.”

The 6-foot-2.5, 252-pound DeBerry said he and the other prospects in attendance Saturday “really just hung out and ate and pretty much got to talk to each other, spend time with each other and just have a good time at Tennessee.”

DeBerry said he continues visiting Tennessee because “it’s always great going there.”

“They just have good people —*a very good football tradition and good people —*and it’s overall a great place. They have good football facilities, and you can see them trying to turn things around there,” he said.

“I have a lot of good friends who are there, like*Josh Malone*and*Charles Mosley*and all those guys. I mean, every time I go there, it’s always fun seeing those guys and hanging out. I just like to have fun, and those guys always have fun.”

Tennessee’s coaches have stayed in frequent contact with DeBerry, he said, and have told him “they would love to have me in their program.” And he said the Vols still are among the teams he’s strongly considering.

“I know I’ve got a couple more schools I want to get to before I narrow my list,” he said, “but they’re right up there with everybody else for now.

Wow...Cherry, DeBerry and Smith...might sound like a law firm :), but that would be one trifecta at LB...laying down the law, on defense.

is it feasible to think that if this guy commits then phillips is no longer considered.....i feel like UT would have their mike, sam and will if sapp commits....and deberry is the same size as phillips.....IMO u only take 2 then 3
LBS every other year if UT plans on running the nickel package to correspond with spread offenses....Just a thought.....

I just don't think this one is going to go UTs way. IMO it sounds like "dad" likes UT more than Ricky does. I do think Phillips is it at DE for UT. Cherry, Smith, and Sapp at LB IMO.

Miss on either Phillips or Sapp, and I suppose anything is possible.

What's going on with this cat? I've seen very little information out there... still has a very relatively equally weighted CB prediction. Last CB was early June. I think we may not be recruiting him hard because they might be satisfied with Cherry at MLB in this class and are focusing on other faster pass rushing ends.

DeBerry is a tweener.

I think we've got better prospects at both OLB and DE.

That appears to be the case. Its amazing that we are involved heavily with so many good players we can be this choosy.

It feels nice to have the bulk of the class already verbally committed. The days of waiting for NSD to fill out the bulk of the class are hopefully gone. One aspect about this staff is the fact that they are so relentless. Much thought is placed in offering a player. I think we'll like our chances on beating just about anyone by 2016. This staff has done an incredible job turning over the roster since their arrival.

FWIW from Lions247 - seems pretty quiet on DeBerry & Settle from as far as Vols are concerned:

Penn State also hosted a pair of uncommitted four-star prospects from Virginia on Saturday. Stonewall Jackson defensive tackle Tim Settle and St. Christopher's School defensive lineman Ricky DeBerry both spent extended time on campus.

Settle spent much of his day hanging out with several Nittany Lion commitments. DeBerrry tweeted that he would be back for another visit.

That school should have gotten te death penalty.. F them for what they knew and did nothing.

Why punish the school and the new players for something done in the past? Just fire the people responsible (they did) and get on with it. It had nothing to do with actual football team.

**** Franklin though.
