'15 VA OT Austin Clark

I know most will tell me I'm wrong, but I think this is one of the kids in a holding pattern as the coaches try and determine how many they can take this year. It will come down to that # and how long he is willing to wait to see if there is room.

I don't think you are wrong on this one. He would be a commit, if he had the green light. Only way he is a take IMO is if Edoga or Richmond tell us no...and that is certainly no disrespect to the kid.

CBJ is hitting the OL recruiting hard this class. We need to load up on both sides of the line.

They still have a LOT of catching up to do on both the OL and DL to get this program towards the top of the SEC. Dooley just did such a horrible job of recruiting those positions his last few years.

I think Edoga is athletic enough to play any spot but i still think he is a Guard or RT. he's only 6'3.5

Clark is a LT or RT and at 6'5 or 6'6 gives you great length at the tackle spot. I don't think his spot is really based on what Chuma does. Richmond though, could be a diff story and you may be right. Id take Clark.

I've seen Edoga in person. He is definitely a OT. He was undoubtedly the best OL at the Atlanta rivals camp last weekend. His arms are extremely long and he has such quick feet. He went against elite competition and pretty much won all his reps. He is a stud.

Playing on the inside is typically easier as there is less room for the D-line to operate and run around you, but strength is more important. Edoga has elite skills and his long arms and freakishly quick feet make him a perfect OT. He is going to need to add strength and some weight, but he is probably one of the top 2 OT's in this class in pass pro. He is going to have to round out his game a bit in the run game, but the ability is there. He is a 5* OT in my book.

Richmond has better prototypical size and looks like what an elite 5* OT should look like but he doesn't play up to his talent level yet. I've seen him get beat a good bit in the pass pro drills by a lot of nobodies. I've seen Edoga go against nobodies and the best DL's in the country and he has won about 80% of his reps in drills that favor the DL. I like Richmond a lot, but Edoga IMO is the better player now and will be better in the future when he adds weight and strength. I love his upside and he is already very polished in pass pro.

What are the chances that we pass on Richmond and take Clark as the other OT? I know Richmond is a Tenn boy, but I think Butch wants the best five and Richmond may not be one of the top two? When it gets right down to it, who is the better prospect? Everybody is assuming we are waiting on Richmond, but is that the case?

Richmond is better than Clark.

Richmond is the best player in the state of Tennessee. He is also ranked considerably higher than Austin Clark by every service.

Really, no disrepect, but I was looking for something more objective? Chris Donald was rated #1 player in Tn and you know how that turned out. As far as I am concerned, Drew Richmond is hugh and I hope he is dominating in the trenches, but what will he do in college?

There is nothing objective about football recruiting and evaluation. Richmond is universally rated higher, has a much stronger offer list, and is considered to be the #1 OL target of Butch Jones. That is as close to objective as you are going to get.

It's been said by everyone close to the staff on every recruiting site out there that Richmond is the #1 overall priority on the Oline. Not sure what else you are looking for.

Both of these posts are spot on. No one can guarantee how well any kid's game carries over into college. Richmond is about as good an OL prospect as you're gonna see. His offer list, ratings, etc. speak for themselves. Clark is a good-looking prospect too, but isn't on Richmond's level imo and most everyone else's as well. Not really sure what kind of answer you may be looking for, valoisvol.

"Right now I'm still trying to keep myself open," said the 6-foot-5, 295-pound Clark. "In about a month I want to narrow it down to seven to focus on. I want to have my decision made before the season so I'll probably cut it down more as the season gets closer."

"I've already taken a lot of visits in the fall and I went to a few junior days," he said. "I went to South Carolina on Friday and I'm going to Ohio State this weekend. "South Carolina was great," Clark said. "I was really impressed the coaches the facilities and everything.

"I've already been to Ohio State twice," he said. "I went to a camp there and a game. I'm hoping to see a little more of the athletic facilities and talk to the coaches a little more in person. "I want to get back to Virginia Tech," said Clark. "I'm planning on visiting Miami but that will have to wait until the summer I think."

"I'm going to narrow it down in about a month but I can definitely say that Tennessee and Virginia Tech will definitely make that top seven," he said. "South Carolina and Penn State will also make it. Ohio State could make it as well."

Clark says he's also talking to LSU, ASU, FSU, UGA and a few others that are close to offering.

I been saying this short of o line that just graduated he did a piss poor job on both sides of the ball. This is the reason we are so far behind other sec teams

It really is remarkable how bad Dooley was recruiting the offensive and defensive lines

Looking at Rivals rankings, I noted that Dools signed (12) 4* OL/DL guys in his 3 classes. I see that CBJ has signed (7) in his 2 classes. Kind of shows how recruiting is a lot of guess work. Hopefully this staff can turn more of these kids being signed into SEC caliber talent.

Also CBJ has (2) for the 2015 class thus far.

The Dline is a disaster, but I'll reserve judgment on the Oline until I see how this unit plays. Three probable starters are Dooley guys, and we would have had Skipper and Koehler. Certainly the depth isn't where you'd want it to be, and OT is not ideal, but I don't think the Oline recruiting was remarkably bad. Just average - like most of what Dooley did.

Very misleading. He actually didn't land John Brown, Corey Miller, Juwuan James or Jacquez Smith. All four were already enrolled (in Brown's case signed) and legally bound to Tennessee when Kiffin left. So those weren't guys he "signed". Hell Miller, James and even Smith were telling people after Dooley was hired they were going elsewhere (Miller to USCe, James to UGA and Smith to LSU) until Mike Hamilton made a public statement saying they would not release them. And despite Cam Clear being an OL by Rivals he was recruited by everyone as a TE where he plays in college. So in reality he signed 7 4* OL/DL in 3 years. Not nearly good enough for this league.

Clark made a big jump in 247's ranking. Went from a 90 to a 93 overal land now the #151 prospect nationally. I'd love to get this kid in the fold.

I hate to say it but Skipper and the OG for Hawaii would be helping a lot right now in terms of the OL, hate we ended up missing on them
