'15 VA WR Alvin Harper Jr

It's no secret Alvin Harper, a member of the Dallas Cowboys' back-to-back Super Bowl championship teams in 1993-94, is back in Polk County and helping out with the Victory Christian program where his son A.J. will play wide receiver this coming season.

But the knowledge Harper holds about playing the game might pale in comparison to what he wants to teach players about competing in life.

AJ just had a really good camp today at University of Tennessee. Coaches said that he ran great routes and he loved him, but no offer came with that.. I really thought they were gonna offer him today.

Surely butch is not dumb enough to let a legacy go unoffered no matter how stacked we are at wr.

He may not offer him if he isn't..... ya know.... good.

Not trying to be mean, but lots of ex-players have children running around out there playing football. We can give them all a scholarship.

McDaniel walked on. I dont see why he cant do the same if we have bigger fish on the board.

I heard it was a silent offer, and he silently committed.
Also, I heard we are gonna be silent SEC Champions this year!

Bruce and Woods took his spot. He didn't offer Bailey Lenoir. Jones isn't "dumb" because he doesn't offer every legacy in the world. Alvin seems to be a great player and kid, but that doesn't always equate to what the coaches are looking for/needing. With all the 4 and 5 * talent we are in on, we don't have the room. Who knows, he may get Woods spot. If Neiko was being recruited this year, I'm not sure if he would have got an offer either.

That offer list is pretty sub-par...

I'm all for legacies, but if the kid is that much worse than the rest of the players, is it really fair to him or the team?

Because that's obviously the best thing for the player and program.

While I want every Vol Legacy in Orange, I know it's just not reasonable. CBJ will have to decide which make sense and which would need to be a walk-on IF they wanted to be a Vol. Best of luck to Alvin Jr.

With him showing no offers, and UT coaches stopping in to see him, I'd guess walk-on possibility is being discussed. He is a Vol Legacy. Don't really care how they get him in Orange, as long as they do.

We just cant recruit a kid 5-5 145lbs because his dad played here or his moma was a cheerleader here in the 80s.:ermm:
