'16 AL WR Velus Jones (Transfer)

How much better can they get. He needs to work on hitting them in stride first. I mean when is the last time a receiver was hit in stride for a TD? The bowl game last year? A RB threw that pass.

2 come right to mind....1 to Malone that he caught for a TD vs Kentucky, and another 1 that would've been a TD vs SCar had Josh not dropped it.

Edit: a third was the TD pass on a post route to Pearson vs SCar

Lol

I recall one hitting 3 right in stride with no one with 10yards of him

Malone had to stop for that ball. So that is two. We should go to SEC Championship game with those numbers.

People still needlessly hating on Dobbs. Sheesh.

Not necessarily hating on Dobbs, but I don't think he gives us the best opportunity to win it all. He is a great young man and a great ambassador for UT. I just wish he would improve as a passer.

Is it your opinion that Dobb's will improve as a passer? Because if he doesn't I don't see how we will win the East. Teams will be able to stack the box, and force him to throw. Yes he helped us last year and year before last, but we really didn't have a choice. We have choices now. We have to do what is best for Tennessee football.

We ran the ball against good defenses stacking the box. We can run the ball against anyone. Just need a little threat of a passing game. That's what we have now.

No he didn't. All three balls I mentioned were perfectly thrown footballs. That's 3. I've been one of Dobbs' chief critics since the Oklahoma game, he's certainly struggled and the excellent passes downfield have been few and far between. However, to say that the last pass thrown in stride to a receiver at Tennessee dates back to the Taxslayer Bowl, by a running back, is factually incorrect.

Edit: BTW, your posts about Dobbs are all "Negavol-ish", don't you think? So, Jones can do nothing wrong in your eyes, is never, ever to be questioned.....but Dobbs sucks. So, are all mistakes and failures of the program on all the 17 and 18 year olds in the program?

Malone slowed down. Is that better?

No one is hating Dobbs. We just thinks that he runs a lot better than he passes. IMO

I would much rather see Dormady or Jones next year, just to see. Both may be an improvement in regards to passing, but we would lose a little threat of running. Defense won't be able to stack the box anymore.

Totally agree with this. Dobbs is a great runner but deters from our passing game.

And I agree. But it's wrong to say he hasn't hit a receiver in stride all season long. Those passes are all too few and far between, but more than a hand few happened. And for a poster like titansvolfaninga, who constantly, incessantly harasses anybody who he deems to be a "Negavol" for questioning Butch Jones in any shape, form or fashion, to now be aiming both barrels at one of the players....I'm just gonna point this out and ask what gives?

I like Dobbs, but I think his passing hinders our offense. He is an erratic passer. That is the truth. If someone told me that I was overweight, while it may be mean, it is the truth. I can either work to fix that or I can pout about it. As a supporter of the University of Tennessee, I would like the players that give us the best chance at winning. If his good passes are too few and far in between, that doesn't give us the best chance to win.

IF other teams can negative recruit against us because of our anemic passing numbers, that hurts us in the long run.

Was to announce this afternoon but has now postponed it. His coach says he is not sure about where to attend.

I would think that bodes well for us considering he was trending towards OU. delay the decision, talk to Butch some more. sign with the Vols!!

We wouldn't win 5 games with Dormady as the starter. When we win 10 or 11 games next year...you'll be all over Dobbs nuts....so stfu.

It's absolutely ridiculous and pathetic to bash someone for their opinion. Instead of telling them to stfu and insulting them, give them reasons to change their mind. Just because some think differently doesn't mean they aren't Tennessee fans. It's a message board. Accept that we are all different people with different thoughts.

How do you know how many games we would win with Dormady as the starter next year? I never wanted Dormady to start this year. He wasn't ready, but I believe we MAY have better options on the team. Starting QB's lose their jobs all if the time. Why are you so emotionally invested in Dobbs? Why not be emotionally invested in the good of the program. If you burn the fries everyday at work, they move you to another station. Not saying you are a bad employee, but you are a bad fry cook.
