– Velus Jones: Yesterday, Sooner Nation was awaiting 2016 WR Velus Jones’ (Saraland, AL) announcement. Which was particularly exciting for OU fans as there were a number of indicators Jones could likely commit to Oklahoma.

Instead, Jones decided to delay his announcement. After which I spoke with Jones about possibly taking more visits or when he might now announce his commitment. Both of which he said he was undecided on at the moment. Jones didn’t give much indication as to why he held off, but TFB’s own Alex King spoke to a source and it does seem there are some who believe that his lead recruiter at USC, Tee Martin, may have been the cause of the hold up.

The rumor is that Martin may soon join the staff at his alma mater, Tennessee. Adding fuel to that speculation fire, Martin’s son, Amari, also recently decommitted from USC and would presumably be following his father to Knoxville.

At this point I am not entirely sure what the hold up is, but the Sooners do have the advantage of a chance to shine in the playoff and a possible national championship, but Jones’ aunt and uncle still leave near OU. So this delay doesn’t change any of those advantages. – (Super K)

– Wide Receiver Recruiting: We will wait and see where the Sooners turn next IF things with Jones don’t eventually work out. In the event that were to occur, I did confirm with a source close to 2016 WR Audie Omotosho (Plano, TX) that the Sooners have resumed their recruitment of him.

You may recall that Oklahoma had been recruiting Omotosho heavily during this past summer, and then early in the season there was an abrupt fall off. It is my understanding Omotosho has not yet visited Norman throughout this process. He did, however, make a trip to Stillwater to check out Oklahoma State and at the time was expected to stop in Norman on the way back but an issue arose preventing that.

Also, as we mentioned earlier this week, the Sooners have not given up on 2016 WR Tyrie Cleveland (Houston, TX) despite his recent commitment to the University of Houston. We’ll work to dig up some additional players OU may also be considering at WR.

Personally, I would like to see the Sooners take a good look at Jackson Winrow (Shawnee, OK). He is a late comer on the recruiting scene but as we mentioned last week, recently picked up an offer from Vanderbilt and is currently being recruited by Oklahoma State. He visited the Pokes a couple weeks back. – (Super K)

– Marcus Green: TFB had a report on the OU redshirt freshman corner and his ‘up in the air’ status with the program. It was later reported by the Tulsa World that Green was no longer with the program, and Wednesday morning Green himself confirmed his intention to transfer. – (TFB)

– JUCO Signing Day: As of the time of this post, the Sooners have received the first of three NLI’s they are expecting today from their junior college commitments.

In addition to Ben Powers (above), both Ashton Julious and Ryan Parker are also expected to officially sign with OU today as well. – (TFB)

Is this guy a credible source?

Was the first I have heard as well, the above article was on 247 in regards to why he put off his commitment, was thought to be a Sooner lock but Tee told him he was coming home. Also is why his son decommitted as well. This would certainly shake things up on the hill.

I would like to be a fly on the wall for the first conversation that Tee Martin would have with Jalen Hurd.

Soft, my ass.

No way VN gets scooped on something like this by a Oklahoma writer. This would have been sniffed out by now by somebody in Volunteerland surely.
