'16 AL WR Velus Jones (Transfer)

Seems to me it would be a noun. Because the "kid" is going to "be" a Trojan. Trojan is a noun as is condom or fireman or Doctor.

"Condom" is not an adjective. Happy, blue, short, fat, etc are adjectives.

Just my take. Could be wrong.

While I am aware of the above, I went with condom describing what kind of kid he is going to be, when he signs with the Trojan's. But then a Trojan would still be a noun.

If ever there were a time a time for a mulligan. And that's if I'm even using mulligan the right way..

Really? He would probably be my favorite WR still possible. What makes you think he's ours?

Williams committed to Miami this morning, and based of of all I have seen here in the Ed it just doesn't seem like we get Calloway. I think with it being between us and Oklahoma here that we win this one and we take him.

Hubbs said we are a "large factor" for Jones and that he talked to some in the "coaching world" who "feel pretty good" about Tennessee's chances. That's Hubbs-latin for Tennessee leads.

You don't even have to read between the lines. Hubbs got some good news in regards to Jones and Hubbs doesn't share that information unless he feels confident about the source.

Also OU has 3 WR commits and one of their commits came just a few weeks ago, so that may be telling from their side of things. Plus w/ North declaring and Coach Z visiting/staying in regular contact, it seems like we may have the upper hand here.

Bingo, and is probably why Latrell Williams went ahead and committed to Miami.

I have been saying the past few days that I think Velus ends up being a vol. People thought I was nuts, but I'm just passing along information I have heard. It could change, but I believe Velus Jones ends up playing for uncle Butch Jones lol.

No. That was more of a Florida kid staying there when he got the offer he wanted

I like Jones better than Williams. I would be pleased for us to take Jones. There just does not seem to be enough base from all the info flying we get Calloway. Between Jones and Calloway who do you feel most confident about?

Honestly have no idea. I do know there is plenty of room to improve at that position

Hope we get him. When I read a while back he might be coming to UT with Tee I loved it. Jones and no Tee, I'll take it. He could make a difference in the slot. We need a playmaker there.

Guy is an instant replacement for Von Pearson. Also lets not forget about Vincent Perry. Would have played a lot this year if not for the injury he sustained.

I don't discount Perry at all. Very good chance he starts in the slot. Jones would see some playing time as a FR there I think. CZA likes to rotate about 19 WRs.

Condom or Trojan can be used as either a noun or an adjective. It depends on what function you assign to them in the sentence you construct. I could say, "The kid is a condom because he is a condom head." In the first instance, "condom" functions as a noun because it renames the kid. In the second instance, it functions as an adjective because it describes the kid. Nouns name things and adjectives describe things. In form, both condom and Trojan are nouns when they stand alone. But function (How a word is used.) always trumps form.

"The Trojan looked at the Trojan horse." One "Trojan" here is an adjective and the other is a noun. Think function rather than form and it is easy to tell. :hi:

Actually:
Tro·jan Horse
nounGREEK MYTHOLOGY
a hollow wooden statue of a horse in which the Greeks concealed themselves in order to enter Troy.
a person or thing intended secretly to undermine or bring about the downfall of an enemy or opponent.
noun: Trojan horse; plural noun: Trojan horses
"the rebels may use this peace accord as a Trojan horse to try and take over"

Both uses were nouns in your example

In this instance, you are correct because "Trojan Horse" is a compound noun. I was referring to a horse from Troy rather than the mythological weapon used by the Greeks. For that reason, I did not capitalize The "h" in the word "horse".

The President lives in the White House. (Two words but a single compound noun)

My white house is not the same. (Two words consisting of an adjective plus a noun.)

What if...

Coach Z "finds another opportunity" after signing day, Velus Jones signs with the good guys because he knows Tee Martin replaces Z?

Conspiracy...
