'16 AL WR Velus Jones (Transfer)

Sounds like he may be heading to Auburn:

AuburnSports.com - Auburn 'really high up there' for USC transfer wide receiver

Auburn plays UGA and Florida this year, so if he is going to go somewhere other than Tennessee, Auburn is not the worst for us. He is from Alabama, so not a huge surprise:

“It went really well,” Jones said. “It felt really good to be back in the state of Alabama with my dad and cousin being with me. We loved the visit. We loved Auburn. I really felt like I fit in and I liked the family feel I got from the players. I had real good talks with the coaches.”

I don't understand how or why any WR would want to go to Auburn.

Well news on him fell off quickly. Guessing someone broke the news to him we wouldn't know for certain if we could make room for him (aka eligibility news on Harris) for awhile, so he'd have to be "on call" so to speak. And then if Harris makes it in, Jones would have to look elsewhere. He may be wanting a place that has a sure spot for him and I couldn't blame em.

we have a sure spot now with Crosby medical news yesterday. I think now we will see how much Tennessee really wants him

The bigger issue I was alluding to is the annual signing limit.

If the 85 limit is ever an issue, Pruitt just has more "sit downs". But the annual limit can't be circumvented.

We simply do not have any room for a transfer. But if Harris falls through, that's when we may alert Velus or Tavien that a spot opened up and these talks may get more serious.

Honestly, think we are hearing so little from "insiders" because the information is so tight lipped. VQ should be able to pin a recruit down to where they are going but time and time again they are wrong.

We chastise our insiders when they are wrong and leave VQ alone for the most part. I feel that is why @Atlanta VOL hasn't posted in forever. Little info to go off of and what info there is ends up being wrong by the time it's all said and done.

Not saying Warrior was a great insider but I enjoyed getting my hopes up every now and then. Now we just have disappointment after disappointment with no ups and downs.

Going to be funny if he ends up being a Vol and @Warrior5 was right after all.

I don't think so.
The roster is quite a bit different even from last year.
Brandon Johnson and DeAngelo Gibbs redshirting at WR.
Palmer, Johnson and Keyton will be the most ready imo. Expect Gibbs to come on late and finish strong though. He could be the best WR by the end of next year...
Tillman is getting better and he's 2 years + removed from that bad injury when he was at Bishop Gorman.
Calloway and Small give juice to the return game.
Hyatt is going to open up the whole offense with his deep speed.
But our roster still needs great 4 year players. Don't need any grad guys

Please explain this to the fools advocating that we "kick the tires" on a grad transfer QB.

I think maybe they just want anexperienced speedy guy but we already signed two...maybe 3 ( Holiday) who have more speed and are younger.
Let this kid go to Utah or something...

We have plenty of talent in the WR room plus the freshmen coming in with speed. Even if the speedy freshmen don't get many catches, they force the safeties to respect the deep ball leaving the middle open for TE seam routes and crossing patterns. No need to use a spot on a one year experiment.
