'16 D.C. DE/TE Devante Brooks (UT commit 1/15/15)

This kid was a 4* player before all the knee trouble wasn't he? You know this offense loves some talented athletic TEs.

Rivals had him a 4*.....#4 TE.....
#60 something in the nation IIRC

His injury affected the rankings

This kid would have likely been the #2 TE in the class had it not been for the second knee injury. If he is able to get back to 100% he may be one of the biggest gets of this class. Glad to have you Mr. Brooks. BOOM!

If rehab goes well, this kid was a huge steal

Like Guarantano, a redshirt year of training and strength work will be rewarding. Let DeBord and Scott drill the blocking concepts of the TE position into his fibre and we may have a complete TE to succeed Wolf. Slower 6 foot 6 TEs make the NFL on being good blockers alone.

Might want to let him work with Coach Z on the blocking. :)

His coach was on the radio saying that he didn't actually have a "second knee injury." He stated that the first surgery didn't take, and that the second surgery was to go in and fix the deterioration of the part of the knee that he damaged. So in all actuality he's only had one surgery that needed to be fixed.

Agreed. You can tell hes "filled out" a little since he hasnt been able to play. He is going to need a year to get back in shape and get his confidence back. Hes going to be a good one if he can get back to form. Definite steal.

Callahand at 247 said he has gotten huge, but it was good weight - I will take that to mean Devante has not been on the couch snarfing cookies.

Seriously, if he can get rehabbed and stay injury free he could be a impact player

So they fixed the knee the second time without surgery?

Per Hubbs

Finally on the 2016 front, there's some real confidence in the structure of Devante Brooks left knee, the one that has had two ACL surgeries in the past 18 months. Tennessee believes he's right on track to be ready to go this fall and believe that the second surgery has done its job and rehab is heading in the right direction.
