Sounds like if healthy that he could be #2 on the depth chart quickly

This kid is the steal of the class IF he stays healthy...may be the biggest steal in the country if he holds up....high 4* talent that dropped because of injuries...he'll be a nightmare matchup

How is he a steal? His scholarship Is the same. They recruited him. He committed to us when he was highly ranked. Just curious choice of words, IMO.

Remember when some wanted to cut him loose after his injury. We would have had big problems trying to enter the tight world of DC HS football. Now his teammates, the Johnson boys are very much in play for us.

Would love to see Debord add in a shovel pass like Urban Meyer ran when he was at Florida.

I still have serious doubts...

Why does everyone ask this about "steal" when it's obvious what he means? No cool points awarded.

I will admit that there are some assumptions on my part when I make that comment...first, I assume that if he hadn't been injured a second time he would have performed in a way that he would have remained a high 4* on all websites...I'm also assuming that other schools backed off because there were no stories about him waivering on his commitment or of him being strongly pursued by other schools during the process after his second injury...

IF those things are indeed true then I think it's safe to say it would be a steal if we landed a current low 3*/former high 4* who regains his health and plays up to the ability that once had most major schools pursuing him

What does he mean, then?

It means we didn't have to fight a lot of schools for him. We offered before he took off. He committed. He got hurt and other schools backed off. We stuck with him and his commitment. We haven't had to battle others for his talents.....we got a steal.

:hi:

I see your side but, like you said, that's a lot of assumptions. Mostly, we never know how much we or other schools are pushing for a kid. That said, here's to hoping the kid has a great career here, regardless of the path to getting signed.

What does he mean, then?

When someone uses "steal" in this context, it pretty much always means that the prospect was worthy of a higher rating, but for whatever reason (injury, grades, etc.) they were ranked lower. However, they are expected to come in and play according to their deserved ranking, thus making them a "steal". No, it isn't 100% accurate but I think that is generally the accepted vernacular for this situation.
