'16 FL CB Tyler Byrd (UT Commit 2/2/16)

People thought I was dogging AJJ when he was here. I liked that he played hard but he shouldn't have been a LB at Tennessee. Our program should only keep the elite ball players. Kirkland is an example of that. Dude may end up as our top defender next season. The D-line will keep him clean. With his speed and instincts running free it will be trouble. He was in on a lot of plays from Bama until the end of the year.

I cannot think of a more impressive freshman middle linebacker in the SEC. He's a bullet, brings bad intentions, has a knack for the ball and has good hands.

DKJ is a great example of elite recruiting. Just think about how we were al drooling over Cecil Cherry. Where's he at now? This coaching staff might be guilty of taking commits too early but they are also guilty of finding elite talent.

I liked Austin Smith more than Cherry coming out even before DK committed.

Speak for yourself, I saw Cecil as another Jeff Luc. He was a folk star though. Enjoyed him while we had him. Remember his dad? Buster? Haha 😂

I'll take DK freshman year over AJJ. I'll deal with the growing pains. His talent made more big plays first year than I watched AJJ make for 4 years.

AJJ behind this D line would look like a totally different player. I'd take DK on pass coverage but AJJ was a very good linebacker that got little help from his D line.

He measured in at 5'11.5 and 194 pounds at the Army All American game.

So he is basically me

Except with less fat and more muscle

And more athleticism

Edit: bet I could run a half marathon faster than him though.

That makes me feel a lot better about him contributing next fall honestly. That's Eric Berry college playing size

We were both on the same page about AJJ. I cannot stand an inside backer not being willing to square up in the hole and bust somebody. For 3 years all he did was run sideways and grab. His senior season he improved a little. Kirkland is special and you could see it in his HS highlights. Butch hit it out of the park with him. His instincts, speed and willingness to take guys head on are elite.

It is imperative for a pressure D to have than elite CB's. Enter Tyler Byrd and Marquill Osborne. Wow.
