'16 FL CB Tyler Byrd (UT Commit 2/2/16)

Haven't followed him much do you mean he could play 3 positions in the secondary?

I think his best position is definitely CB, but I think he could bulk up and be a very good safety, and also a very good slot receiver.

If you haven't watched his film yet, do yourself a favor and get on that immediately. It's something to behold.

Interesting I wonder if that's what Butch is selling (a chance at WR)? Anybody know what we're recruiting him as?

Yea I think we are selling him on "just come here and we'll figure out where best to use you."

I think defense because you can tell he loves to hit. Reminds me of Cam the way he blows up plays in the flats.

I'm terrible a dissecting a player's coverage skills on a highlight video.

BB, what you think?

Eh, Martin is an elite athlete with sec experience.

I love Martin as much as anyone. I've been on the bandwagon for him to start since NSD last year. I truly believe he'll be a 1st round NFL draft pick.

With that said Byrd can push him. He's right there with Martin in terms of talent. He's a phenomenal prospect.

It wouldn't be crazy to see Byrd and Martin play better than Sutton next year. They have more natural talent.

Martin is longer and faster than Byrd.

I don't know if I would say they are = in talent.

I still want Byrd, however

True. But Byrd has better natural instincts for the position.

Just watch his highlights from the Army All-American game. The interception he made where he ran stride for stride with the receiver on a deep ball and turned his head around at just the right moment to locate the ball and pick it off was phenomenal. That to me showed great instincts. Most corners in the NFL don't know how to run with a receiver on a deep ball and turn their head around to locate the ball like that let alone a high school kid.

He also had a phenomenal breakup on another deep ball where he knocked the ball out of the receivers hand at the last moment before he could catch a TD. That was another shrewd instinctual move that even the best corner in the NFL sometimes struggle with.

Byrd's combination of athleticism and instincts are simply on another level compared to anyone in our secondary right now.

Wasn't it RIcht that gave Carlin a cold shoulder while on his visit to Georgia? Hopefully he has reminded his brother of that kinda treatment.

This will really make our secondary awesome. Next yr we are looking tough. Sutton, Martin, Gaulden, kelly, and warrior. Wow!!!! Now look at the next year. Martin, Ozborne, Gaulden, Byrd, Kelly, Warrior, not to mention guys like Abernathy. A lot of speed and a lot of competition. Can't wait.
