'16 FL CB Tyler Byrd (UT Commit 2/2/16)

Is Byrd an Adoree' Jackson caliber athlete? The way y'all are talking on here it sounds like it.

Most of us can't "see" instincts and NFL talent from high school highlight film. We got PEOPLE for that. :wink2:

If he chooses UT, of course. If he sticks with the canes, he overrated.

I don't think he's quite to Jackson's level, but Kid has a lot of ability.

Adoree is a freak. Olympic caliber jumper, 4.4ish 40.

Byrd is 4.5-4.6 guy and I doubt he comes close to jumping like adoreee

Byrd is plenty athletic though, and seems to have good instincts.

True. But Byrd has better natural instincts for the position.

Just watch his highlights from the Army All-American game. The interception he made where he ran stride for stride with the receiver on a deep ball and turned his head around at just the right moment to locate the ball and pick it off was phenomenal. That to me showed great instincts. Most corners in the NFL don't know how to run with a receiver on a deep ball and turn their head around to locate the ball like that let alone a high school kid.

He also had a phenomenal breakup on another deep ball where he knocked the ball out of the receivers hand at the last moment before he could catch a TD. That was another shrewd instinctual move that even the best corner in the NFL sometimes struggle with.

Byrd's combination of athleticism and instincts are simply on another level compared to anyone in our secondary right now.

So I think this is the appropriate time to say this. A few disclaimers first: 1. I think you get an unfair rep on here - people pick on you because it's the majority view to do so. 2. I don't disagree with you often. 3. You may end up being right about some of the things you say.

That being said, I cannot stand how you take an 8 minute highlight tape and make definitive statements about prospects. I know the "film" (hate the use of this word) is all we have, but I believe you'd be better served to take more of an opinion stance than a factual one. Every HS player Butch has signed has had incredible "film." Byrd looks elite imo, but to say some of the things you've said based on a highlight video is crazy.

That's all. Do you.

More like: If he chooses UT, he is a future national champion, future starter, and future NFL draft pick; if he chooses Miami, he is an instant starter, possibly future ACC champion, and future NFL draft pick.

I bet Breakerboy likes this haul. Reading the comments from you guys about him playing the ball, that's something we don't have much of outside of Cam (we rarely see it though cause way avoid him) and Martin.

This is a surprise and thank you Richt, your sins have followed you!

No. But he's a better CB prospect.

Adoree is in many ways overrated as a cornerback. Great athlete but he got burned quite a bit this year. See the Notre Dame game and how badly Will Fuller abused him.

Byrd has a lot of natural insticts along with outstanding size, range, and athleticism to make him a special prospect.

He reminds me more of Jalen Ramsey than Adoree Jackson.

Fair enough.

Just remember the kid went from unranked to #75 in the country on rivals after that game. He was by most accounts (not just mine) the best player on the field.

I could be wrong. No doubt. But his performance that day wowed more people than just me.

I completely agree, minus points 1 and 2.

That's when you go back at them and say "what have you won since your booster got busted paying players and buying drugs and hookers for them?"

I should have said the way Cane fan used to talk. They've been a soup sandwich so long that there aren't many fans left.

Named Pac-12 Defensive FR of the year by the Pac-12 coaches. I'll take their assessment.

I guess you missed the part when I said THIS YEAR. Adoree was burned quite a few times as a sophomore.

Because of his athleticism he'll always have coaches salivating. But he needs to work in his technique ALOT.

Once again watch the Notre Dame game. Will Fuller made him look foolish this past season. The same Will Fuller that was shut down by Mackenzie Alexander.

Kid is going to have Neyland rocking when he pulls a JRM and blocks a punt or FG. He was shot out of a cannon on the blocked FG in AA game

Future DBs possibility:?Osbourne, JJ, Warrior, Byrd. Mercy. Of course if JJ swaps he's probably gone after 17 but that's nasty.

IMO, playing both sides of the ball is hurting Adoree

Never heard of this kid much until the AA game ... he tore it up. I know it isn't foolproof, but I feel like you can get a good idea of what is to come by watching them play so well against top shelf blue chip recruits. Game film is one thing but you aren't always guaranteed they are playing thr best of the best. The kid dominated and I'm personally thrilled to see him in Orange. It's gonna happen
