"AP is finishing up talking to him so we will have his thoughts here in a few minutes. But, have to give some real credit to Larry Scott here.

Scott was pivotal in giving Tennessee a surge down the stretch. As you could have probably told from Brent's conversation with him a week ago, Tatum really felt like he had a connection with Scott along with the rest of this staff.

I talked to someone in Florida today and the Gators were trying to get him to hold off on making a decision and will still try and land an OV, but this is a nice get for the Vols after the Gators have essentially led for a few months.

You have to give some credit to Jashon Robertson as well. These two guys really hit it off."

Get used to losing to the Vols Horseteeth, cause you'll be getting a curb stomping in September in Neyland.

Jimmy may pull a Kelvin Taylor in his pants midway through the 2nd quarter.

"It's not hard to see why Tatum's offer list is long. He has the frame of an offensive lineman that could contribute at a high level down the road. The height is obviously the first thing anyone notices with Tatum, but his long arms are what make him effective. Tatum has a strong initial punch and has been coached to use his arms effectively. He has a wide base and light feet as well.

"Tatum's task will be adding strength in college. Coaches would like to see his frame fill out and for him to become stronger in the upper body. Redshirts were essentially made for prospects like Tatum, who has amazing physical tools and high potential but needs some weight and muscle before being able to compete in a major conference. If he stays lean and nimble as he gets more powerful, he could easily outperform his ranking."

Bewm!

I don't understand why the recruiting services will rate a player, specifically offensive linemen, so low when they have such impressive offer lists. Tatum looks to be a huge get but you would think he barely made his HS team by the rating.

Input?

Love this kid's measureables. Could grow even more in college and already nimble with good use of his hands. Weight and strength can be added, height and long arms cannot.

Great get by CLS and this staff!

“It was really just the offensive line and the family atmosphere. I love everything about Tennessee,” said Tatum[.] “I went back and forth a couple of times. It was a hard decision. It wasn’t easy, but it’s the right one.”

“I was just thinking about it, and I like, ‘Oh, wow. I really like this offensive line up here, and that’s what it’s all about, because coaches come and go.’ I just felt really comfortable up there,” said Tatum, who claims scholarship offers from more than 20 teams. “It feels just like my offensive line, and I just feel extremely comfortable up there. That was really one of the main deciding factors. I talk to (Mahoney) every day, easily,” Tatum said. “It’s crazy. My relationship with him is great. He knows almost everything about me. He’s aggressive and passive, and it’s a good, equal amount,” Tatum said. “It equals out.”

It also didn’t hurt that Tennessee hired Larry Scott last week as its new tight ends coach. Scott previously served as one of Tatum’s primary recruiters at Miami.

“It just makes me feel even more comfortable with the staff,” Tatum said of Scott’s hiring at Tennessee. “It’s really just another plus for them. It wasn’t really a big factor. It just solidified it more.”
