'16 FL OT Marcus Tatum (UT commit 1/11/16)

We've lost some to slow playing ourselves, but I'm racking my brain trying to remember one that had Butch and staff camping at a kid's house begging for a visit.

We don't beg anymore. You either get on the train or get left at the station

Did anyone see Tatums pic with Butch in the tweets thread? Dude looks more like a tight end than an OL. Gonna have to start munchin on that big orange peanut butter.

Butch Jones was with Marcus Tatum Thursday as the offensive tackle has maintained he is solid to Tennessee and Florida is out of the picture. That's big for the Vols as the Gators have tried to make a run the last few weeks but as of now Tatum tells Volquest that he is all Vol and done.

I noticed that. Seemed the most excited of all that have signed.
Absolutely. They also made a point to say he was the #1 OL in Florida on one site (scout?). He's my favorite pure tackle tape wise we've signed (outside of Richmond) in a long time. The good news is none of these lineman should be needed in the immediate future

He's on the Animal right now. Very well spoken young man. He's funny too. Says he's 258 right now wants to be 275 when he graduates high school. Says he's going to make it happen.

On the offensive line, the plan for some months had been to take several more developmental guys along with Ryan Johnson. Marcus Tatum was an early offer and they beat out Florida straight up for him.

And that's something that's a little underrated here. You're talking about a kid an hour from Gainesville that had only been to Knoxville twice before he committed compared to numerous times for the Gators.

And if anyone tells you he wasn't a priority for Florida that's not true. Four Florida assistant coaches showed up at his school the week after he committed to Tennessee to try and convince him to visit. He had a teammate that was committed to the Gators as well.

Credit goes to the trio of Larry Scott, Don Mahoney and Gillespie for keeping him settled and in the fold. Throw in Jashon Robertson as well. The two bonded over the last few months and Tatum was back up in Knoxville last weekend for an unofficial and spent most of his time with Robertson.

Now, he has the longest ways to go of any of the three offensive linemen signed but he's bought in to getting bigger in the weight room recently and has already added some good weight.
