'16 FL WR Latrell Williams (UT signee 2/3/16)

Quick, shifty, speedy...this guy is fast! Should strait up do work in our offense. BOOM!

3 things I noticed

1) He makes the first guy miss
2) He never gets caught from behind
3) He made some difficult catches

Bet right now Debord is asleep dreaming of jet sweeps and slip screens :)

Alright, while I will continue to lurk, this will be my last note:
It bothers me how much our fan bases are spewing hatred at each other...If Miami is good it's good for Tennessee, if Tennessee is good, it's good for Miami. Don't know what the hatred is about.
If Tenn is good that means UF isn't winning, helps UM recruiting...
If Miami is good that means it hurts UF's recruiting which in turn helps you guys.
Regardless, the enemy of my enemy is my friend and we both despise the turds.
Good Luck this year, hope you guys knock off Bama but of course I won't wish a Natty on you, because that's my ambitions for The U.
-No, the Majority of UM fans are not complete douche's, just the cyber canes.
 :eek:lol:  :eek:lol:

:peace2:

Finally, a classy Miami fan! I was beginning to think*there weren't any!

I have be honest i just watch some his film.dude is flat out fast im not sure we have receiver with his speed. Her looks very athletic as much as what we have now. One thing sticks out to me besides sheer speed is ability to high point ball and pull it in with aggressiveness and authority. Hows the competition he played afaknst. I cant see whey this kid wasnt a priority for alot of schools. Hos film ricals very few on our team.....thoughts

Between him and Callaway we've upgraded greatly.

The WR Corp has an added speed dimension that has been missing. Henderson will be nice in the slot too. Also don't forget about Perry coming back as well

I feel like a lot of people are forgetting Perry. If healthy, he will have a breakout year in the slot in my opinion.

At least on the track, literally hundreds. Williams' best official 100 time last year ranked 66th in Florida; over 150 Texas kids alone had faster times. Williams' 55m PR was not among the top 100 time nationally last year.

Just making the point that if anyone thinks he has truly special speed like Demps, they're going to be disappointed. But is fast enough to be an effective receiver in the SEC? Absolutely!

I agree that he is very fast. I also agree many high school kids are faster. In the Air Force we had a field day event and a guy in our flight told our tech sgt. that he could run a 10.1 100meter dash. so he was selected for that event. He had not been training and actually ran a 10.2. In the same flight a competitor ran a 10.1 and beat him. Now keep in mind our guy had a track scholarship to Ohio St. and decided college was not for him. The guy that beat him was straight out of high school and had told his tech sgt. the same thing. He knew he could do it before he ran. Two guys in the same flight with that kind of speed ? What are the odds? We also had a guy that tried out for Para Rescue and he swam over double the required distance in a pool in his tryout. They asked him out much longer he could go at the same speed and he said at least another 5 miles. They offered him a spot and told him that they had no one in their Para Rescue that was as strong a swimmer as he was. Great athletes are everywhere. Jones knows how to find a few of them.

Those guys are no joke. They don't get enough recognition as a special forces unit.

Not close. Demps is a truly elite sprinter who set the all-time HS record for 100 meters (10.01). He ran a 6.52 60m in HS while Williams' PR for 55m is 6.55.

FWIW, the reported 4.27 40 time is what Williams' coach said he's clocked him at, which almost certainly means that was hand timed...so that would translate to an electronic time in the 4.50 range.

Williams is fast, no doubt, but he does not have elite speed; hundreds of HS kids are faster.

What is the exact mathematical formula you used to convert his hand timed 4.27 to an electronic time in the 4.5 range?

I'll wait......

Why do people feel the need to debate back and forth specific speed about a kid who is not even on campus yet--- He IS fast, just how fast, who knows, but he is a Vol now and leave the rest to the coaches... how about this- I bet he is faster than any current WR we have on the roster.... and can run routes and catch.... that should be good enough.

I definitely agree azani was raving about we font have anyone on our roster like him and he best hes ever seen at tracking the deep ball. There biggest contributions year one maybe getting upper classmen to actually play ball up to their ability. Because they keep alot crap up last year they may find themselves really fighting for time.

Yeah I know all about the round up and then add .24 for a conversion. My kids ran track. Now... Explain to me the math that makes that accurate. Also keep in mind a hand timed reading from a coach is different than a hand timed reading in a track event. In a track event the timer is waiting for gun to go off so they have a slower reaction time than if they are the one saying go.

I'll wait....

I can see you're just being argumentative & missing my initial point that Williams doesn't have Jeff Demps-like speed, which is perfectly fine because he's clearly fast enough to be an effective weapon.

But there's this:
Based on empirical data from thousands of 40-yard dashes compiled by Zybek Sports, the hand-held times are invariably fastest, with the electronic hybrid (ET) adding an average of .175 seconds and the fully automated (FAT) adding .24 seconds.
2015 NFL Combine: Real-time 40s to be used for first time - CBSSports.com

From 2009 to 2011, an average of 12 players ran 4.43 or faster per year at the NFL combine. Yet at Nike Sparq combines, eight high school football players ran 4.43 or faster this winter and spring. At the Sparq Opening final combine this summer, six more did the same. Several others ran in the mid- to upper 4.4s. Of course, the high school athletes aren’t the ones lying.

“These combines and camps, they time them and say you ran a 4.3,” Rivals recruiting analyst Mike Farrell said. “The reason they do that is because better times get more people, more publicity for the next year.

“Ninety-nine percent of it is fabrication.”

Pulling a fast one? Why HS coaches don't trust 40-yard dash times | SportsDay

At last year's NFL combine, only 7 players recorded a sub-4.40 laser-timed 40. Last fall in Lake City, FL, Columbia head coach Brian Allen said that he had 3 WRs who could run a 4.3 40 (Williams, Dallon Washington & Michael Jackson). I don't think he lied about that, but it just further illustrates why reported 40 times should not be held up as prima facie evidence of truly elite speed.

Suffice it to say, I'm glad Williams is a Vol and I think he'll be a terrific addition to our WR corps.
