'16 FL WR Latrell Williams (UT signee 2/3/16)

Why is Tee Higgins' decommittment updated instantly and 36 hrs after flipping to us on NSD Williams can't get a Vol signee next to his name?

Bordering on disrespectful now.

I don't think we've ever actually updated the titles to say "signee." Apparently someone changed a few of them, I guess.

The easiest thing to do is use the report button and bring it to someone's attention if you have an issue. Although, I'm not sure there's really a need to go back and change all of them. I kinda like seeing when they committed, considering most everyone knows who signed by now. :dunno:

But if you guys want them all to say signee, we can make it happen. :)

***I guess someone updated this one because it does now say signee.

Per Hubbs
Latrell Williams gave the staff indications after his official visit to Tennessee that if they had room he wanted in. He and his family were very comfortable with Knoxville and this coaching staff, more so than they thought they would be. In the end, there was a spot available the coaches asked him if he still wanted in and he was all aboard.

Why? Some on Tennessee's staff see him as likely the steal of the class. It's surprising that Miami, Tennessee and Virginia Tech were his three biggest offers down the stretch.

What the Vols did get done was very impressive with 21 spots.

4.27 to put this in prospective the fastest NFL laser timed 40 was ran in '08 by Chris Johnson = 4.24
Chris Johnson NFL

Fastest NFL Players

If Williams truly ran a laser timed 4.27 his offer list would reflect it.

That said William's has good straight line speed but what sets him apart is a nice first step he's quick, shifty, with excellent vision and good hands

Not sure about the speed affecting the offer list is a sure thing. Chris Johnson went to East Carolina didn't he?

Either you're naive or being sarcastic either way it absolutely does if/when your academics are in order. Word is Williams' SR year he focused and worked hard to get his in order

My comment had nothing to do with my knowledge of Williams grades.

40 times are okay, but all I care about is actaul game speed as it relates to scoring touchdowns. I don't care if his laser time is 4.7 if he can score touchdowns.

Can't say I remember anything about his grades. But if he can get in EC, most SEC schools could get him in as long as he can write his name IF they really want to.

Nope. It's obviously impossible for fast kids to fly under the radar.

Fwiw, Johnson chose ECU over UConn, so I doubt his grades were that bad. More likely teams just saw him as a scrawny little track kid.

That's a stretch.

It was common knowledge there was baggage to go along with poor grades, programs backed off.

Fast kids? Sure. Top-end elite speed? Virtually impossible

And you would be incorrect.

Scrawny? 5'11 175? Okay. FWIW Williams is 5'11 170, Osborne 5'11 180, Henderson 5'11 170, CFA 5'11 180 and Callaway 6'1 177. Yep, Johnson's too scrawny. lol

CJ was a Top 100 Florida Super Prep as a player and track star who finished second in state finals to eventual '08 Olympic Bronze Medalist Dix and the only offers he received were ECU, UCONN, EKU 7 USF? Right

Kids with elite speed fly under the radar all the time. Coaches usually start identifying prospects in their freshman or sophomore year in high school. If a kid doesn't camp or put up big numbers early then they can be overlooked. If you're not a starter until your senior year, or you play small classification ball, or if your team sucks you can be overlooked. Potential superstars still slip through the cracks every year for one reason or another. Think about Marshall Faulk only being offered to play running back by San Diego St.

Hubbs was asked about the star differences for Williams...he said that he didn't perform that well at the Rivals camp and he didn't think that they reevaluated him again after that

To be accurate we must convert that to a HT (hand timed) value.. Using the formula 4.27 = ((DF (damn fast) + 1.24) x 2/ 2) g 1.24.. Take that and and subtract .24 and you come up with HT = 4.03 or SF (smokin fast)...

Yeah linking to his recruiting profile that lists him as a two star doesn't help your point.

But I'm sure you're right and there's no possible way a fast kid could fly under the radar.
