I think it's clear that this OL is better this year....Kerbyson is much better at LT, Thomas much better at C, and now we have two freshmen more than holding their own on the right side. Is the line great? Of course not. But there's definite improvement.

The only question in my mind about whether or not Mahoney stays has to do with DeBord spending so much time with the OL....it's essentially a duplication of services if you will.

And we also lost our starting LG for the year in camp and currently have two other starters out as well.

So I try to keep it positive when I post here but I do have one coach that I have concerns with. Suffice it to say I don't believe it's coincidence that our passing game has improved so much in the past 2 games since Butch has placed more of his focus in one area.

So one thing I noticed is that the WR looked alot better in yesterdays game. Like I said look for the change to come after the season. Also noticed that Butch was also speaking alot with the wideouts and noticed they were running alot more crisper routes.

How well and valuable do you think ZA has done as recruiting coordinator?

Very very few people discussing this. I Am not a fan of him but if his worth is found in that question let the man stay

So All of a sudden none of the passing issues are on Deberg,
jones, or the scheme?

Again I have never been a fan of the guy but Wr coach is here to recruit first and coach second. If he is as elite as it appears as a recruiter then it's not that cut and dry

Not sure. I think the best recruiters on the staff though are Thig, Gillespie and Elder though. And of course Jones. Our passing game and WR play has been so poor under Z that I think that has to trump anything he's done recruiting-wise. After 7 games, we don't have a receiver with either 20 catches or 220 yards yet. It's unbelievable.

I can't agree with this. WR is an important position and we need someone who can them up. This staff has multiple individuals who can step in as recruiting coordinator.

Players are not happy with CZA and neither is Butch according to a few insiders on here. Butch has been more hands on the past two games and the receivers have performed a lot better.

When wrs are saying they havent been coached the technique to beat the press and your head coach has to take over that means your wrs coach isnt doing his job. Azzani is an ok recruiter not elite. Not even close to tee martin in that aspect.

This is year 3 of poor WR play. This staff as a whole recruits very well. Z can easily be replaced IMO, especially with a competent WR coach who can get an incredibly talented group to perform at the level they should. Azzani has shown he can't do it.

ZA is NOT the recruiting coordinator this year. Gillespie has that job now. However, ZA is generally rated high as a recruiter.

Butch is why we have had so much success recruiting. Look at the elite studs we have landed, and who personally took over some of their recruitments. Also, Gillespie is now the recruiting coordinator, not Z. Remember, he got the title passing game coordinator, and if he is actually organizing that, then he failed miserably the 1st 5 games. Butch obviously took over the WR unit in games 6 and 7, and the unit looks so much better already. Maybe Butch or Debord have taken over passing game duties, too.
