It was the same case last year. We're averaging 60 more yards rushing per game this year and are a pace to give up many, many fewer sacks. Last year we gave up 43 sacks in 13 games...right now through 7 games we've allowed only 16 going into the easiest 5 game stretch of the season.
I think it's clear that this OL is better this year....Kerbyson is much better at LT, Thomas much better at C, and now we have two freshmen more than holding their own on the right side. Is the line great? Of course not. But there's definite improvement.
The only question in my mind about whether or not Mahoney stays has to do with DeBord spending so much time with the OL....it's essentially a duplication of services if you will.
And we also lost our starting LG for the year in camp and currently have two other starters out as well.
