247 article saw said he would likely count towards 2016 class due to Corey Henderson possibly not qualifying and going to juco
I'm curious to see something definitive on where he counts class wise. VQ said Lewis is counted toward 2017. He's been on campus for a bit. Not sure how that makes sense if a guy coming in after him counts back to 2016.
I was wondering the same. Especially with Alexis Johnson and henderson both being a question mark on whether either will play. Seems like there could be 2 open spots? Idk how all that works I've only recently started following recruiting.
Also I updated my other post with the excerpt

I don't believe either guy opens a spot. Only on the 85 total. Once you sign a guy in one of the 25 spots, he counts. Even if he doesn't qualify or gets booted. The article is pointing out Henderson didn't stick after signing. It saying he signed I believe says that spots gone. Otherwise there isn't a penalty for signing a non qualifier and I think that's why they recently changed that rule.

Edit: from said 247 article "McDaniel became the 23rd member of the Vols' 2016 class, although only 22 of those players are expected to be at Tennessee this year after three-star wide receiver Corey Henderson who signed with the Vols in February signed with Blinn College in Brenham, Texas, in late May because of academic issues."
What? No. This is still going on today just not to such a great extent
Saban...Miles...Spurrier...are all guilty of oversinging before Nutt took it too far...Saban is one of the worst perpetrators too especially when it comes to grayshirting, sudden medical scholarships or booting kids off the team. Go back to his original Alabama signing class and I think you'll see what I mean. He signed like 32 I think? Of course he couldn't fit them all in, so that's when he got creative. Several medical scholarhips were issued, couple players mysteriously booted off team....Saban is a master at purging his roster.
Nutt gets all the attention from the ordeal, but in reality it should've been called the Nick Saban rule cause there is no one as crafty as Saban when it comes to oversigning.
