If you were able to go back and reread that, my pomposity would be exaggerated. I was similarly relaying info I had and was then attacked by posters who didn't like the info which was the deleted by someone. Like 8 pages worth. I didn't start off as pompous, but when someone calls me a jacka$$,etc. I'm not going to sit back and take it.

You've posted 21 times and got 14 likes. You are doing alright for another team's fan.

AU is giving the kid 12 grand.

Butch offered him a couple licks off Shoops chocolate ice cream cone.

Someone call in the hookers.

I remember when Rogers was a RB, I believe at Duluth. According to a family member, his mother, he recieved 20 grand from Auburn , with to South Carolina and won the Hiseman Trophy. Sometimes they get burned by the player but seldom by the SEC/NCAA.

I'd take the cash, sign with Tennessee, and purchase a billboard in Auburn with my smiling mug, saying, "There's one born every minute."

Then I would go to a Waffle House, order a triple scattered, and laugh and laugh and laugh

Stories like this come up every year, like clockwork. Some player a team really wants and seems to be in good shape with and suddenly he ends up somewhere else. Naturally, he must have been paid.

The realistic part is that 99% of these stories are made up fiction from someone with too much time and an axe to grind.

To my knowledge, the only one of these stories that has ever been somewhat proven to be true was the Albert Means story out of Memphis. I know Bama ended up being punished for it, but I still find parts of that story inplausible.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news homeboy...but you don't have a clue what you are talking about. I live in this world as do many of my friends. These types of things happen each and every single week at every top tier SEC football program. It just heats up at the end because that is when decisions are made. But brother let me tell you the top tier kids are getting perks from their top three to five schools all year long...it's just at the end when people go well why did this kid flip etc. " oh it must have been cause of the money". Sure occasionally there is some last minute influence but decisons many times have been in the books for a long time. Rest assured however if you are not in "the game" for these top tier guys...you are not getting consideration.

Cam Newton happened but it's ok, he didn't know about it.

Oh look, Auburn again.

any private citizen can talk to him if he wants them to. Just because you are a former player does not mean you are employed by the school. You think AU is dumb enough to use an employee?

Great news. JohnD.....can't wait for Peyton to hit the recruiting trail.

You may be right. But it seems like there would be a kid and family at some point that do things te right way according to the rules that wouldn't play along and/or would O&W the whistle. And I'm talking about when it happens, not years after the fact.

There's been several O&W :) the whistle at Auburn, both famous alumni and disgruntled former players. Nothing ever comes of it.

auburn has been dirty for a long time, desperate to keep up with its dirty, instate rival. A yahoo state where football is revered, two bitter rivals = recipe for cheating.

In Alabama it is accepted as fact that both schools pay players. Their fans absolutely do not care. If we did the things they do, we would receive the death penalty. It is disgusting, not that players get money, but the arbitrary corruption of the NCAA. We lost the best basketball coach we've had since the 70s..over a barbecue...smh.

I just want to say, even if he ultimately decides to play elsewhere, I applaud this kid for the way he's handled the recruiting process. He's clearly weighing all his options and not making silly decisions based on emotions. He's played it smart. Good for him.

NCAA is going to stick it to you when your AD is incompetent like Hamilton was. We lost the best BBall coach we have ever had and our AD did nothing to truly help the issue. NCAA stuck it to us because Hamilton waved the white flag as soon as he saw how serious the issue was. Pearl lied, Hamilton bent over, and the NCAA stuck it to us. I can promise you Bama, and most other schools, wouldn't do the same.

Agreed. The kid and the family have been nothing but first class.Hope the kid realizes he will get the opportunity to play at the same school that has produced 2 of the best DL of all time.Numbers 91 and 92 are gone but not forgotten.

This is so very true. The AA shows up at UT's door during the Hamilton days, he kindly asked them in, drops trow, and hands them the KY. The AA responds by throwing the KY out the door.
