Well this is getting interesting, Barton at 247 said as of Sunday he felt TN had dropped in the Brown race but is now hearing TN is trending up and is "dare I say confident" in their chances.

Pinkel went 5-7 in two of his four years in the league. And he got blasted in the sec championship the other two. He had some scrappy teams but I think people oversell what he accomplished. Nothing against him but Fulmer got fired for similar results between 2005- 2008. The talent matters.

Mizzou and Pinkel benefited from Florida and Tennessee being as down as they have been in the last 30 yrs and Georgia, well being Georgia. I don't think they are going to change the landscape too much recruiting a large group of 2 and 3* players.

IMHO HC Gary Finkel has put that theory in doubt..The right fit for a coach/team can and often does make stars irrelevant..It all depends on the coach/team..

It seems clear to me that nobody has a clue about any of these recruits. Heck, we cannot even figure out how many spots we have available. It's like some unknown calculus calculation that only a group of rocket scientists can solve.

I remember simply not believing Richmond would sign last year.. then I saw the fax come in. Not only that, but Butch already has a Richmond jersey with his name and number on it.

Butch carried that thing into the war room with a big cheesy grin that said, "it's always been in the bag."

Starting to get the same vibe from this one. If we were going to miss on Kongbo and Brown, we'd be trying to find some other DL guys to sign. Chris Daniels COULD be that backup.... but it seems like Browns locked this thing down and Butch knows the answer.

I've tried to be optimistic all along, but this just ain't happening. Butch went all in on this cat and lost. If we end up just getting Warrior and miss on all the rest, that qualifies as a huge bust, and a horrible letdown.

I agree, but there is not much to be optimistic about. Kongbo is a flake..Brown is a wartigereagleplainsman..Byrd feels flaky..Dickerson evidently was unwanted. If we end up with Moss and Williams...it will be a bag load of..blah. And VN will be insufferable. The negaButches will ruin this place.

This class has some great players yes...just not many of em. I'm just hoping like heck guys like Buchanon, Brandon Johnson and Niehaus etc., are way better than their rankings.

I was just being honest with myself on how it looks to me right now. I'm not wanting to be a "crazy" or an "idiot". I hope everything comes out alright, but the stormcrows are right about one thing, you can't have very many meh classes and consistently compete in the SEC. Who just wants to win for 2-3 years and slide back into the pit.

There is a ton of pressure building up on next years results..will we win big and move up into the truly elite, or lose our hard earned grip and slide back into the abyss?

Why does it seem like they kick our tail in these down to the wire situations? Even the ones we win..Blair..turn out to be losses.

I agree GFW..but we absolutely HAVE to win big this year, or the big orange train Butch has built will lose steam, and fall back down the mountain. Next years class has to go big. If the team stumbles...���� ...I believe we crest the mountaintop though.

Thank you. I am so sick of reading the bs people portray as fact. The only facts as far as I know are:
Brown has repeatedly said he speaks only to his parents about his recruitment.
He says anyone claiming to know anything about where he is going are speculating because see line 1, he is only talking to his parents. So all of the "experts" & "insiders" are full of shizz when they say hes a lean anywhere because again see line 1

He shut down all communication Thursday other than a few tweets so no one has spoke to him since he left here & according to players & coaches he had a great time here.

He said after our visit he would break down everything with his parents & only then would he make a decision. Now this is very tell tell to me. Clearly his parents are very central to his decision making. After going home & being with his parents all day talking about his future, he sends out a tweet of himself with his family in the locker w coach strip & the caption Rocky Top you'll always be home sweet home to me. Now many have said this means nothing & maybe not. But clearly Brown is very calculating & keeps everything close to the vest when it comes to his future. so why do you send this out some 12 hrs after you leave & have obviously talked all day to your parents, why include the most influential people in your life in the photo along with the person who would be taking over that role in the future. Why include home sweet home to me, why not just Rocky Top or nothing at all just the picture? And then he goes dark again so no one can ask. Again hes closed lipped but does this 48hrs before signing day? 1hr before the dead period? Few recruits include even 1 parent much less their family. He knew exactly how that photo would be perceived by vol fans & coaches & he waited til it was too late for any coaches to call him & he put it out just b4 dead period. No hes a Vol IMO & I have thought he & his family have felt that way for a while. Parents that are that involved are usually high character people & the Rodney garners of the world can't buy those people. Brown, Kongbo, Warrior & Byrd. Mark it Down
