Just want to take a second to thank GFW and AtlVol for bringing the info that you have. Sounds like recruits and coaches are being tight lipped.

It's not so much the scouts vs journalists as it is mass consensus vs a handful of staff members subject to group think.

Not bashing at all! More curious to see if they have the ability to see things before anyone else does. That's a true advantage, if they can truly do it

Seriously? How many times do they have to do it before you'll be convinced? Already been a bunch.

Your not kidding on the GF bit. However telling a kid that when they are drunk on "love" is a different beast.

I'm hoping to pull a rabbit out of the hat.

Regardless I'm getting fired up to head to ktown wed for the day to celebrate a lot of hard work this staff has put in. I can say this...no one outworks coach jones on the recruiting trail...he is relentless...and just a great all around person. I can't say that for a lot of other hbc's out there.

Well said. Butch reminds me of Fulmer, circa 1995.

I 100% agree they're great at it. My question is, and maybe this belongs in the football talk thread is an "underrated player" Butch and staff's prioritize due to their eval better than a highly rated 4* or 5* player from the recruiting services?

I don't think we've seen enough of a sample size to know if that type of recruiting can consistently outperform the year in and year out top rated classes by rivals, 247, etc.

It's very very evident this staff is one of the best at finding truly talented players before anyone else... No one is saying otherwise.

IMHO HC Gary Pinkel has put that theory in doubt..The right fit for a coach/team can and often does make stars irrelevant..It all depends on the coach/team..

I just got a letter in the mail Friday saying we went through 2 Epass lanes on our way to the Outback bowl. Although I don't remember doing that and would almost argue that we didn't, its only 5 bucks and can be paid online.

It's real. Happened to me going thru Colorado. Cost me 40.00

Butch was pretty clear that he doesn't use the services at all. Whether that is coach speak or not is anyone's guess, but he clearly has built his own in-house service, and it is clear that they have identified quite a few talented players before the others have. The only difference I see is that in some cases the services eventually see what BobW saw early, and in other cases they don't. That may be as simple as lack of opportunity. If a player goes on to blow up at a camp, the services will see it, but what if they don't camp?

Time will tell, but based on the number that jumped in the services after BobW identified them, I think we will be pleasantly surprised by how well some of these lower ranked guys turn out.

Not saying 100% he is going to UGA. This is the same message I've had all along. His gf does not go to UGA, but UNG. But AtlantaVol must be legit. Don't know who he is, but the message he is reporting proves to me he is around the right network for good info.

So your source is a Vol fa who posts on VN. Got it.

It's all a good laugh man

We'll end with a very good class regardless of what the crazies say here

With you there. I may be pessimistic about signing all the 5* that come to visit but I have faith in the staff and their eval of talent. From what I've read on here from people I respect, this was not a Top 5 year for us from the start, this was a fill in some depth chart hole year and toss is a few players with great potential.

Pinkel went 5-7 in two of his four years in the league. And he got blasted in the sec championship the other two. He had some scrappy teams but I think people oversell what he accomplished. Nothing against him but Fulmer got fired for similar results between 2005- 2008. The talent matters.

Well this is getting interesting, Barton at 247 said as of Sunday he felt TN had dropped in the Brown race but is now hearing TN is trending up and is "dare I say confident" in their chances.

Listed warrior, Brown, Daniels and Kongbo as all trending upward for TN this morning

I don't think anyone knows what's going on with Brown

It seems clear to me that nobody has a clue about any of these recruits. Heck, we cannot even figure out how many spots we have available. It's like some unknown calculus calculation that only a group of rocket scientists can solve.
