Mr. Brown was involved in an incident at Josh Dobbs' birthday party this past weekend. Indications suggest UT's coaches quit recruiting him at that time.

What was the incident? Did he distract Dobbs from his homework? I kid, Dobbs is the man.

I know nothing about the truth of that... But wasn't he the one who tweeted "I made a big mistake" or words to that effect while on his visit?

Im trying to wrap my head around the idea of anything controversial happening at a Josh Dobbs party. In my mind I see a bunch of nerds playing a fantasy card game like on Big Bang Theory. :)

I wish it was just one incident. If Mr. Brown had only had one incident this weekend then the Vols might have still accepted his commitment, but unfortunately there were multiple major incidents.

First mistake of the evening was Derrick showed up to the birthday party, but didn't bring a gift. Huge red flag immediately. Next, Derrick doesn't join the team in singing "Happy Birthday" song to Josh. By this time, eyebrows are being raised.

Brown then goes on to get a little too prematurely excited & blows out the candles on the birthday cake before Dobbs can even take a deep breath. The night really took a bad turn from there. I won't include all the details because some children read VN, but let's just say there is very strong evidence that Derrick cheated during a game of "pin the tail on the donkey" & pissed all over multiple toilet seats throughout the night. If that gives you any indication of what type of person he is.

There might have possibly still been hope for UT allowing Brown to sign with the Vols even after those incidents at the birthday party, but the final straw was reached on the car ride back home. Several players stopped at the Cook Out on Cumberland before heading home for the night. TIFWIW, but several current UT players were appalled at Brown's order.

Derrick only ordered an order of hush puppies & a Hi-C Punch milkshake. What kind of person does that? The "Cook Out Tray" is conventionally & financially the clear-cut order choice at this establishment & Derrick Brown blatantly ignored that. UT players spread this startling news to the Vols' coaching staff & Derrick Brown was packing his bags the next morning. There is no room for such inexcusable lack of character on UT's football team.

Where those dawg fans that were bragging last night about getting Brown?

Here's what I have... and before I say anything else, I'm over it Brown made his choice. I'm just here to share info with you guys. I have received info from different people, people who actually talk to Georgia's coaches. One guy has covered Georgia football for almost 30 years, he said without any doubt that Derrick Brown told UGA's coaches that he was coming. People flamed me, told me to get lost..mentioned my post count. Etc etc. That didn't bother me, I was only trying to provide y'all with information. I've heard from 4 different people that have proven that they know what they're talking about. They all said Georgia's coaches expected him to be a Bulldog. Apparently Auburn was able to sway him btwn Tuesday night and his announcement. After all, Brown did say he had to do what's best for his family.

You had my heart at "Cook out Tray." Let me get that western burger with cajun fries, 10 nuggets, and a cheese dog and I'm out. #gains

I heard he said, "Careful, dude, you singed your eyebrows!" after Dobbs blew out the candles. Clearly, he had not done his homework-- a bad sign since Butch is all about the APR. He couldn't even spell "alopecia" to Google it, so everybody knew he would be better off at the Barn.

This might be my favorite post in the history of the recruiting forum.

The schools with greater means will give more than the ones who don't thru the bagmen. Here is the deal with Auburn and doesn't mean anything on Brown. When they need to do so, they do it on a level that is above other schools. Getting a car happens at a lot of schools. Six figures do not. I know a kid that went to OK and played in the NFL got around 5k. Some assist coaches at Georgia went on visit and mom said OK had just left and made that offer. The Georgia coache's said they did not do that stuff and left. One of these coaches later was a HC in college and the NFL. Back then that was more money than what it is worth now but nothing close to what Auburn does.

QFT

There's cheating and then there's Auburn and OM.

That explains the tweet on Saturday night.

I'm not putting any stock in these rumors when it could simply be sour grapes and trying to explain away our failure to sway him. If a member of the VQ team mentions it, I'll change my view.

I agree. people that were watching the war room feed were saying something to the effect that you could see staff saying they hoped DB had a change of heart which seems completely at odds with this rumor.
