She said Tennessee “most definitely” will need to make the most of Derrick Brown’s official visit to Knoxville the final weekend before signing day because she and her son are less familiar with Shoop.
^^^ this is why I don't read recruiting articles anymore. The author can take any article and paint any picture he chooses simply by what he includes or leaves out and how they organize the sentence structure.

When you read the quote above, at first it reads like the mother said "Tennessee needs to make the most out of the visit because we are not familiar with Shoop."

....but in reality the question was asked "does Tennessee need to make the most out of their visit because you and your son are not familiar with Shoop?" to which she replied "most definitely."

I mean what kind of question is that to ask an uncommitted prospect? How else would she answer?

Maybe they were interviewing DaRick Rogers and not Martha Brown.

you got that out of that audio? i honestly got that the kid likes all the schools and doesnt have his mind made up. It was annoyingly Auburn and Georgia slanted.

Just reading the tea leaves, piecing together interviews, and insider drive by's. That and we have the last visit and most program momentum of the supposed top 3.

Sitting down to decide just a few hours after his OV on the Hill is over? Can't think of a better position to be in.

i had thought about that angle. it would help if i felt we had some MO.

Sounds like if Shoop impresses, Vol it is.

He is the key in this recruitment. If he passes Martha's approval then we have this one on lock down. Derrick has been high on the Vols for awhile he just needs his parents to approve it. And Shoop is the one who can ultimately get this sig for us

Time to see what he's made of on the recruiting trail.

That's fine...just pretend we're discussing Richmond. :)

After saying o way we get Richmond or Phillips last year, I'll gladly say we have no chance for Brown if it gets the same results. I'd make a killing as a "cooler" in Vegas, what ever I bet on or say is a lock, always, always go the other way :good!:

I want you to get extra morose and obnoxious about Warrior while you're flinging those powers around. :)

When was the last VQ update on Brown.

Haven't seen anything directly from them in this thread in a couple weeks.

Would like to get an update to see if they think we are still positioned well?

The last two things I remember specifically were Woody saying he thinks we get him and Fort saying he was wrecking fools at the AA practices and deserved the 5th star.

Shouldn't be an issue in then. Shoop is very likeable

If you honestly didn't think we were going to get Phillips then you are either more pessimistic than any Tennessee fan should be or more optimistic than any Ole Miss fan should be. :)

I know some of these kids don't have as great of parents (I've heard firsthand stories from some GA HS championship winning coaches that are terribly sad) but I really like how Derrick and his family have handled the process. His parents have to sign the LOI, so it makes sense for his mom to be so involved. I know a lot of kids take visits with family, but a lot of parents are mostly hands off and "it's the kids decision". These 17-18 year old kids don't always know best so parents should have a big say. There are bad stories about family pressure though, like Alex Collins.

Agree. Derrick's Mom seems to really know what she is doing and also seems to have her son's best interest at heart. She seems like a great mom.
