...but Hubbs didn't give any first hand knowledge of this recruitment. He passed along what he had heard from 'around the SEC' without telling us who he had spoken with... I would expect that to mean he has spoken with Auburn and Georgia homers who both think they are getting Brown - we already knew that. Just keep in mind that Hubbs won't give positive info unless he has it first hand and it's rock solid. He will always err on the side of us being a long shot when he doesn't really know much.

We still get the last visit and I don't think our staff has given up unlike most of our posters will... based on pretty much nothing from the Hubber.

Really funny how Hubbs changed his mind on Brown here at the end. I wonder how many subscriptions he sold with all of the positive comments he pushed over the last month or so?

Media, except UT, were saying we were out of it.

That's not true. Brown's mom has never said we were out of it in any of the recruiting updates and we get the last visit. Is the team with the last OV ever really out of it?

That doesn't change my outlook on this guy IMO. Things always look a little bleaker immediately following a visit to another school. But that cuts both ways. You'd better believe that the more rational UGA and AU fans are sweating that final visit to UT.

Getting Brown has always been an uphill battle. No one expected us to be in this race to begin with. I wouldn't lose the faith, especially considering how much his parents like us and given that we have the last visit. He'd definitely be a huge addition if we got him. Even if we miss out, though, we're in pretty good shape on the D-line.

If we get 2 out of 3 with Warrior, Dickerson, and Brown, we're greatly exceeding expectations.

What media? Auburn and UGA media? 2 of the biggest homer fan bases when it comes to recruiting?

Woody Womack predicted Tennessee. And he is far from a Tennessee supporter. Only constant I've heard is that Brown and his family isn't tipping their hand. His mom even said anyone claiming they knew where Derrick is going was guessing. Not predicting anything here, but anyone who has followed Hubbs knows he likes to add suspense the closer we get to NSD. His words were also 'somewhat an uphill climb'. He didn't say long shot or any other code word. End of the day we get Brown's last visit.

We are not out of this one by a long shot. Coming down to the final strech...
Its been extremely busy and will only get busier here in GA with local recruits.

That is classic verbiage from Hubbs. He says a lot without saying much at all and likes to hedge his bets.

The last visit is almost always a good thing but i have saw many players cancel their last visit b3cause they commit on visit before.im just crossing my fingers and hoping he makes that last visit to knoxville and that the Vols get one last chance to make a big impression.

"I just got to find a place that's home for me," he said. "Once I find it, from there on we will go."

Brown wouldn't give much away about where things stand, and he doesn't plan on discussing the recruitment process with anyone else besides his parents.

"That's the only people that I'm going to talk to about it," he said. "If it's not coming from me or my parents, I wouldn't believe it."

Brown is ranked as the No. 25 overall player and No. 3 defensive tackle in the country.

Betting against Butch when we are still a major factor with this kid and have the last visit is not wise. Especially when we will have other studs on campus at the same time and guys like KMack and Tuttle telling him how extensively they played as freshmen.

Not saying we are guaranteed to land him, but hearing that momentum is swinging towards another team when Butch effing Jones has the last visit doesn't concern me at all.

This is my thought also, can't just say yes we got him or no we don't, u do t sell subscriptions that way. Eazy says we have a good chance, that's what I'll believe
