'16 GA OT Brodarious Hamm (former UT commit)

Just read he was recently diagnosed with cancer and his career will likely be over. Thoughts go out to him and his family.

Brodarious Hamm had what he described as a “knot” behind his ear for awhile before the 2016 Auburn offensive line signee from Griffin (Ga.) Spalding finally went to get it looked at by a doctor.

A biopsy was done. Two weeks later, the doctor presented Hamm and his family with the stunning results.

He had Hodgkin's lymphoma, a form of cancer.

Read more here

Prayers for him and his family. Hopefully he can make a full recovery.

I wouldn't be any more bummed if he had signed with us. Hate hate hate this evil disease! Too big a club of the loved ones that can only do so much to help. Pray and cheer for every victory.

we all love sports and the passion it gives us.. decisions made by recruits, we love or hate..we post in favor of an 18 year old's decision to play at our school or post negatively in defense of him choosing against us.. life is precious... recruit or not.. this man has a battle to fight and we have to support him.

Why would his career be over?

It may not be, but the fact that it was a knot behind the ear isn't good IMO. Not a doctor, so I can't give an expert opinion in that sense of it, but what i do know is my wife of 23 years had a stiff neck in Aug of 2006 and died of inoperable brain cancer in Oct of 2007. Anything in the head region would be cause for serious concern I would think.

I hope I am absolutely wrong though. Good luck to the young man. I hope he does come back and has a great career.

So sorry to hear of your loss Biker, battling cancer myself now. Prayers up for Hamm and all of his family. As you know, cancer affects the victim and the victim's family. It is a battle for all involved.

It's lymphoma, highly curable and they said his prognosis is good. Never a guarantee but he should be able to RS then come back next year.

It's lymphoma, not a brain tumor. Cancer is too broad to make a simple summarization that a career is over.

My wife had breast cancer. Successfully treated and in remission. Cancer free for two years and the breast cancer came back...only it was in her liver and lungs...spread out and inoperable. She was the only promising patient on a trial drug for two years...no trace of cancer for months. Tumors started growing again and they switched her to another chemo drug...she had a seizure in April 2013, they were in her brain. Downhill from there...losing weight, forgetfulness and increasing pain. Second seizure in December 2013 might as well have been a stroke. Couldn't walk or hold any food down and we kept dragging her to chemo and targeted radiation on her brain until her death in Feb 2014...never will forgive myself. Breast cancer to brain...not too broad. Evil crap makes up a lot of distance.

Sorry about your wide. Certain cancers have areas where they are more likely to metastasize to. The breast brain connection is a pretty common one. Again... Cancer is too differentiated to make a sweeping generalization about careers or survival based one case

I've taken in every moment with my 7 month old and wife. They are everything to me and I refuse to get to the point of taking it for granted. Too many people do.

Doing it right, my man!

Words cannot express how sorry I am to hear that butchna.

My wife is going for a biopsy at the end of this month on her thyroid because they found traces of "calcification". It may turn out to be nothing but of course we're both very concerned.

With my wife and 8 years before her, my Mom I learned never to utter the phrase "it's just..." But MOST times it is. If you detect most things early enough it's either not cancer or it's early and isolated enough to cut out and successfully treat. Praying harder for the nothing outcome for you and your wife Brave. :hi:

Same exact thing w/my mother a decade ago. Breast cancer came back in her brain. She held up against it pretty well till it blinded her. Really took the wind outta her sails at that point...
