I know we had talked about it in this thread so I'll post some of it here.
Matt Miller (BR) came out with his top 100 today for the draft.
Sutton came in at #39 overall. #3 corner behind VHIII and Ramsey. White from LSU was #4.
I respect Matt's opinions on the draft so thought I'd pass it along.
Mack Alexander and Ramsey are my top two guys coming out this year. Sutton either has an injury or something but the past two games he hasn't been himself.
Ramsey looks very good outside at CB and his versatility makes him a high value pick.
Alexander follows No.1 WRs around and hounds them. He took Fuller out of the game for Notre Dame this past weekend. He's done it to Oklahoma's Shepard and outside of the big pushoff TD he was erasing Green for FSU. He's got star written all over him at the next level.
Dude--I'm a little late to the convo--but BB is right....Chubb was extremely AVERAGE until the game was all over--and he got 83/146 yds rushing (57%) when it DIDN'T MATTER AT ALL....It was 31 or 38-3!!!
Fournette is in a class all his own......
I'd love to see Hurd run in an offensive system like LSU's!!!! Dobbs would look like a Heisman trophy candidate in LSU's system.....and we'd probably be 5-0!
I really don't want to drum up this topic again, but I don't care what the score was when he ripped off the 83-yd run. Bama still had the majority of their 1st string defense in the game. Ragland, Reed, Foster, Jones, Jackson, Smith, Humphrey, and Fitzpatrick were all in on that play, and Chubb ran past all of them nearly untouched.
And I don't mind that he "only" had 19 carries for 63 yards otherwise. He was playing against Alabama, not South Alabama. They are supposed to be good, and even top-flight RBs are prone to an average day vs good defenses. All it takes is one play to turn an average day into a really nice one. Does it matter that the run came at the end of the 3rd quarter instead of the end of the 1st? Not when the defense is still playing the starters IMO. Alabama was fired up, and didn't fear UGA throwing the ball on them.
BB's stance is that Chubb is "slightly above average" I believe he said, which is manure IMO, and he has yet to present a sound argument that supports his stance outside of Saturday's game minus one run. And, he seems to want to disparage Chubb as an effort to pump up Hurd, as if one's ability definitively says something about the other. Can't they both just be really good running backs, completely independent of how you feel about the other?
Just as I told him though, feel free to disagree.
you're 100% correct Chris who gives a damn when he got the run? It was still in regulation and the 1st team was present and playing. Guys Chubb is elite a notch down from Lenny, but he's still elite to call him close to average is a joke. Most ppl I talk to say Lenny, Dalvin Cook, Chubb, Sony, then Hurd and Perrine(they state OU has screwed this kid with the new offense). Btw I love Hurd and I'm friends from college with his dad Jerome who played WR when I was at Tenn St.
Martin needs to start ASAP. No rotation either, he and Abernathy look completely different than the older guys physically. You can easily see the difference athletically. Coaches are just stubborn though. It's like Tuttle is our best DT but doesn't start.
Agree on Perine. OU is much better off with Mixon playing in their new offense. Not a knock on Perine, because he is a really good RB, but that offense doesn't fit his skills unfortunately, and it highlights Mixon's (particularly his receiving ability).
Mixon is just a better RB than stiff ole Perrine.
That may turn out to be true. I don't think we've seen enough of Mixon to definitively say that, but the current offensive system certainly plays to Mixon's strengths and abilities more than Perine's. Perine is much better suited for UGA, FSU, or USC's offense.
The defensive calls are horrible. IMO
We ran more press man last year. Why back off with more talent and experience on the back end?
This Henderson kid could come in and play but I don't know why they're going after these fast CBs to play Cover 3 defense or soft man all game.
How good is this guy? Despite the win, our secondary is a huge concern moving forward. Receivers continue to be wide open. Number 12 and #13 have struggled thus far.
Why are TK & Justin Martin only in the game when we need stops? They need to be in the game from the 1st snap... Add MO to the mix next year, along with Berry and Gaulden and it will shape up a lot better
