I'll be honest, I'm not that impressed.
He has a slow first step, stand straight up and only got hits on the QB in that clip because they failed to even get a hand on him. He looks strong as an ox though, when he hit somebody they flew around like a cartoon. But who am I to question Strip? Lol.
Are we watching the same tape? I saw the exact opposite thing you did. Johnson obviously doesn't have the strength to just bull rush into the backfield like Khalil McKenzie, but I think his lateral quickness and hand technique are outstanding. DTs don't benefit from blown protection assignments like other blitzers, so if it looks like Johnson's getting to the QB untouched there's a reason. I also echo the comment others have made about his gap discipline. This guy looks like a smart player.
There's a reason his offer list is so impressive.
