Yeah but he just moved back to area so may want to stick around SEC country. If I am him I wait until QB dominoes start to fall and attend camp circuits to see if he gets bigger offers.

I see VQ team tweets about him a lot like he is pretty good.

I agree. Vandy looks to be in serious trouble going forward. Even though it's the SEC, it's a train wreck right now. Kid is a good enough QB he'll have much better offers shortly.

Maybe I used a word that wasn't the most flattering but it wasn't meant to be a knock. Kelly was a solid QB when he was here. I liked him, just wasn't thinking of him as one of the top QBs in our program's history.

You could easily argue top 10 in our history...maybe a tad higher.

Top tier:
Manning
Holloway
Shuler
Martin (Win Natty = make list imo)
A. Kelly
C. Clausen
B. Scott

Probably next tier:
Ainge
T. Robinson (wish he'd have stayed clean)
Dewey Warren (The Swamp Rat)
Jeff Francis (Not a personal fav but a decent qb on some mediocre teams)

Could probably be talked into shuffling the list a tad but I think those are the names. Tyler Bray... amazing arm, great stats, head full of gravel.

Dobbs could very well make this list if he starts 2 more seasons and the upward trajectory continues.

Swingin the ship back to Deuce... probably not a spot for him at UT unless we only get 1 of Kendall/JG/Oden.

All jmo.

Led Tennessee to a near perfect season (Only loss being to no 1 Notre Dame on a near TD to win! - I was there - Incredible Game!) Then came back next season and beat the Irish, down 21, in South Bend! He probably should be mentioned in the top 5 QBs based on that alone. Dude was a warrior!

The original question was about any good QBs from Tennessee, that's why I brought up Kelly. I'll agree with him being good. Maybe not great.

As for current QB recruits I think we only take one. At this point I think it's between AK and JG. Hopefully AK stays committed.

I'd say Peyton Manning,Condredge Holloway,Heath Shuler,Dewey Warren and whoever wins out between Tony Robinson and Casey Clausen for top 5 (I lean Robinson)...some would convincingly argue Tee Martin to displace one of them but it would be decimal points...then you have Jeff Francis and other than Erik Ainge who else? Easily top 10 QB in TN history and that's praiseworthy...bonus that he's a Tennessee boy.

Will see what happens in the camps and upcoming season with Deuce. D-Banks is supposed to be back at SCHS, so that will help show case him. Has some good qualities. Very quick release, good mobility, good velocity, good touch on deep balls, runs a similar O, etc. Don't like his arm angle. Going to get a lot of passes knocked down by D-linemen unless he has Russell Wilson type mobility in addition to it contributing to accuracy issues when he gets to the collegiate level. Rated about right at this point IMO. Not in the league with AK or JG.
