'16 NC OG Landon Dickerson

Butch has had Mahoney on staff since 1998, I think if he can't get the job done Butch will replace him but we have to have the talent in place to evaluate him. A lot of people wanted to run off Jancek the first year.

Again it's not a position like RB or WR where kids are going to be plugged right in and contribute right away without struggles. Kids like Robertson are the exception to the rule. Oline more than any other position benefits from S&C and experience. I feel like I have to say this again we're still starting an undersized C, likely a true freshman at OG, and a kid at RT that likely has no business being there; that and Butch is having to pray that he can keep two other kids happy to keep them from quitting and giving us almost no depth.

I think after this season we'll have a decent starting OLine going into next year. I do think we're still going to have a little issues with depth though.

The entire OL from 2013 was on an NFL roster at one point and may still be.

I think Chance Hall will be a good player for us, but what exactly has he done thus far to generate praise for Mahoney?

As of gameday achievement: obviously nothing. But he identified a slightly under the radar offensive lineman, got him, and has him ready to contribute day 1 as a freshman.
Also has Jack Jones and Venzell Boulware ready to contribute day 1.

He did not have CT ready last year that's for sure. He was woefully unprepared. Like, real bad.

You can't fix somethings no matter what you do which is why Thomas still being at tackle terrifies me. I don't think he had the athleticism for the position.

Wrong. Has athleticism in spades but just didn't/ doesn't know the position.

I'm sorry but the kid looks like his feet are in concrete part of the time. Might be mental but I'm not seeing athleticism in spades in his play. Maybe its just me. He wasn't just overpowered last year he was ran around half the time as well.

Yeah, because he didn't know what he was doing. He was a freshman that had never played the position before.

Thomas is definitely athletic enough to play RT. He's just not that good at it. Just because his footwork is bad doesn't mean he's a bad athlete necessarily.

I bet Lebron James would have terrible footwork for an OT as well. Doesn't mean he's not athletic enough for it.

From what I remember, part of the problem last year was what I assume was a lack of communication. We always seemed to be double teaming one defensive lineman mistakenly, which let the adjacent lineman have a free run into the backfield, to blow up the entire play.

I guess but I'm betting his footwork isn't miraculously better this year. I hope I'm wrong though.

Exactly. Watch the OK game. A couple of times Thomas passed his guy off to the TE, and the TE was not expecting it.

Exactly - he didn't know what to do. But he also was not athletically ready to play RT. He was a fish out of water. He wasn't ready in any way. So why was he starting with Jashon as true freshmen on the road against Okie with Kendrick available?

Until we see CT actually play a game well against a quality opponent he is a VN myth. If he plays C, then he will have a chance to be competent IMO.

Because Robertson has a nasty streak in him that some others don't.

Robertson is freakishly strong. The kid is probably one of the strongest guys on the team right now. Not many freshmen come in as physically prepared as he was.

Quite an interesting recruitment... Just when we begin to slip we jump back on the mix.... Told Auburn 247 that Auburn, Va Tech and TN lead are ahead of the others. He didn't go into detail since it was Auburn site about what has is back to top. I would probably say the run game improvement and Hunter Johnson commit probably helped as those are 2 things that happened since his last interview.

Will unofficial Nov 7th. Considering us for an official as well.

Sounds good. I think he could immediately compete for playing time and that maybe saying something next year as we're finally beginning to get some depth at most position along the Oline.

Auburn, Auburn, Auburn. Every time I look at the RF and check on a big time recruit we really need and are going after, who shows up to the party? Freakin Auburn. Maybe we should start throwing money to recruits too.
