'16 NC OG Landon Dickerson

Who said we should just stop with the elite '15 class?

Pretty sure we already have one 4star OL committed in '16 and more will follow. It's August, plenty of time for Butch to be Butch.

And with the epic '17 around the corner I'm quite certain elite OL will want in.

And so on...

I wasn't aiming that towards you, just a general observation

The '15 OL class alone won't cut it. We need 4 or more talented OL this year

How many OL does the staff want on scholarship? As bad as a situation we have right now, signing 4 this class would put us at 9 in back-to-back classes. We need to get out of this cycle of needing huge classes every 3-4 years we're in right now, so spreading the targets out over to the '17 class would be a step in the right direction.

I faintly recall Butch saying you could never have too many O-Linemen. Then again, he's probably said that about pretty much every position... I'd say the target for Scholarship O-Line is 15.

No need. Here's how you do it. Sign 5 OL every other year. 2 tackles, 2 guards, and a center. That way your starting 5 is all the same class and backed up by 5 guys two years younger. Only 10 scholarship OL allows you plenty of room to sign more slot receivers. Fool proof.

I wouldn't say great at UNC. UNC was pulling in great classes all around with Davis as HC. He's s really good recruiter, but so is Mahoney. He may be a little better recruiter and coach than Mahoney, but it's not a night and day difference like people claim it to be. Bert is the reason for Arky's oline recruiting success. For media days, he took only olinemen. He's trying to make olinemen the stars of Arkansas. That's all Bert, not Pittman

So his UNC recruits are attributed to Davis but ones in Mahoney's career are attributed to him? And UNC wasn't pulling great classes. In 2011 they had 8 4* three of which were Pittman's OL recruits. 2010 they had 4 4*. Two of which were Pittman's OL recruits. One positional coach was responsible for almost half their elite talent in a 2 year period. In 2009 he had two out of three OL who were 4*. He's more than solid as a recruiter.

Beleima's nickname is Bert.

Adapted to more systems? So I guess Terry Joseph is a better db coach than Kirby Smart because he has adapted to more systems.

Pittman has coached for 3 different power 5 teams in 8 years, I sure hope he has put more olinemen in the NFL. Take away Tennessee and his first year at Arkansas away and his numbers are pretty low. Mahoney has only been at a power 5 school for 2 years.

The last point says a lot. Pittman is only 5 years older than Mahoney, how'd he move up so "quickly" and how's he keep getting P5 jobs? Has Mahoney turned down jobs over rhe years or did those calls never come? I'd guess the latter is closer to the truth.

I never said that, I think it's pretty obvious Butch was the reason for Richmond. People try to say Pittman is the reason for that oline in 2013 and that is completely false.

Yea, that seems like a good recruiter, not an elite one. Butch Davis is the best recruiter college football has ever seen and its ignorant to think he didn't have the same interest in recruiting as Butch does. What big time prospect did he really pull in his time at Ut? Yea he got Skipper, but Skipper blew up late. He got Koehler, but a lot of school didn't look at him hard.

Half of those guys were instate. He is a good recruiter, but like I said he gets way too much credit.

He Also started coaching about 10 years earlier than Mahoney. The better point should be why can't Pittman keep a job, but Mahoney can...

He never had a full class on his resume at UT. I don't judge him on that, especially how the season started shaping up halfway through, it was apparent Dooley and staff wouldn't be back.

2001 Coaching change at Mizzou
2002 Coaching change at KU
2007 clear step up to UNC from UNI
2011 coaching change at UNC
2012 coaching change at UT

How common is it for guys to get retained by the new guy? Mahoney has stayed with the same guy for 8 years that's how he "keeps a job". Lucky for him at this juncture his only boss hasn't been fired. Pittman's boss's were fired, its not like they had the chance to take him to the next job per se because there wasn't one.
