While I agree that the OL has improved dramatically, the bigger question is who is the reason behind it...Debord or Mahoney? Kind of like, who is the real reason behind the improvement of the WRs the last few weeks...Butch or Azzani? No doubt, I think it's Butch, but I'm not sure with the OL.

Maybe Debord has made Mahoney a better coach? If that's the case, I'd be okay with him staying.

Both.

And more importantly, the players.

Mahoney was left with an empty cupboard for 2014. We had the lowest number of O-linemen of any SEC team. Most SEC squads have about 13 - 16 serviceable O-linemen; we had maybe 8 - 9 tops last year and a few of those were true Freshmen. We only had 1 true Tackle and he was a walk-on who got injured the first game of the season. Don't care if you're the most brilliant OL coach in the country, you're not going to succeed in the toughest league in the nation, with basically half-a-roster and 0 true tackles.

The progress this year is more representative of Mahoney's work. If you examine our coaches historically, Mahoney has one of the best track records of success. Mahoney just got the blame for Dooley's failures in recruiting O-linemen during his last two years in Knoxville.

Yep. They have improved plenty enough. Can they get better? Absolutely, but they have made a pretty big jump from last year to this year, and I'm extremely impressed how well Kerby has performed at LT. Also very impressed how well the true FR OL have been developed already.
