One of my best friends in HS wasn't even highly recruited (due to no fault of his own- HS coach had no idea how recruiting worked and I didn't know then what I know now) and he read everything he could find online - which probably wasn't much.
I made a thread about him asking how to get his name out there, highlight tape and all, he told me he read it within the week and he knew it was me. Lol
He plays WR at ULM right now and is balling out. Great guy, works incredibly hard, and is just a good football player - no matter the level. High football IQ.
Every recruit - ESPECIALLY the top 250 - are reading every word on themselves. And we have the best forum so they know what volnation thinks of them.
For years the recruiting forum has always been my favorite place, especially closer to signing day. However I am beginning to feel a strong hate feeling this year. Am I alone,
or does anybody else feel this way too?
If Butch has Dickerson in a holding pattern (which I don't think I believe entirely since Dickerson seems to be a stud prospect and OL is critical for successful college football programs), then this is additional evidence that Butch is one of the ballsiest coaches in the country.
I think this recruitment (again, if the rumors are true) draws into focus what is probably Butch's greatest quality which may also, in some ways, be his greatest failing: absolute and unwavering confidence, certainty, and conviction in his principles. What I mean is that he trusts his and his staff's evaluation of recruits way more than the collective wisdom of other coaching staffs' evaluations of players as demonstrated by offers and much, much, much more than the commercial talent evaluation services. Some of his recruiting choices, this year and in the past years, have been puzzling if you look at offers and/or rankings. Butch, however, is frequently ahead of the curve on certain players and he has also identified more than his fair share of undervalued recruits.
I think this commitment to his way is also demonstrated on the field where he does not shy away from declaring his adherence to his ways and principles and following these without exception. This may be giving way some with Jancek being pushed out in favor of Shoop since he has previously hired only people he has familiarity with. But, Butch still hired DeBord when everyone (me included) was clamoring for a higher profile OC, like Mike Sanford.
All in all, Butch is either going to build an elite, championship program his way or he will fall short his way. It is admirable that he is resolute to his principles but, as an outsider and ardent fan, it can be a little puzzling.

"Remember, this staff believes that the defensive side of the ball is the priority right now. On offense, I think they want another skill guy if the numbers work out.
Landon is a really good player and things could work out for him to be a Vol, but at the same time I think this staff has higher priorities than guard, where they feel they are already very deep."
thats from paul. hubbs also mentioned there's a chance dickerson holds off on signing until he sees what brown and kongbo do.
for those of you who think I just make stuff up
I could be totally wrong, but my take differs somewhat. I think he became more aware of being the #1 JUCO, wanted to check options more thoroughly and enjoy the roll more fully. Did UT hold up in that process? My feeling is that Tennessee did. Doesn't mean that we will be his final choice, but I do think Vols compared well and continued in the competition. jmho
Both Fort and Hubbs are still saying Dickerson is not a take unless we miss on several. Said defense is the priority. What I'm not sure of is why Moss would be a take over Dickerson.
LWS, do you feel confident about Byrd as of today? Miamis radio guy says he reaffirms commitment to them.
Idk why Williams or Moss would ever be over Dickerson. That's mind-boggling. (Not saying you guys are wrong)
