'16 NC QB Austin Kendall (former UT commit)

Unless his Spring visit (observing the O and debords coaching) really goes south he'll stay committed --- VOL imo

He will. Report came out saying that the 2nd incident is a little different than initially thought. Probably still deserves some punishment but he should, and hopefully will stay.

I'm assuming you're using rivals? I was using 247, where there is a big discrepancy among the rankings on Kendall. On 247, Kendall is 178th, Barker was 109th. Like I said though, I do think think Kendall is better at that point in comparison. But Barker will have a bit of an edge when it comes to replacing Towles in a while. Kendall certainly has a ton of talent to compete anywhere, would be lucky to have him at UK.

I liked Barkers game coming out of HS. Being 2 years into the program will def give him an advantage over an incoming freshman.

Dobbs was one of the limiting factors in the downfield passing game last year. Butch has shown that he is not afraid of replacing players with better players. These all-star receivers we have will want someone who can accurately get the ball down field or there is going to be a lot of frustration in the future.

Why do you think Butch started Ferguson for two years?

I was agreeing until the Ferguson comment. Dobbs' poor passing at times has been blamed on poor OL performance and justifiably so. We should see improvement on both this year.

"It was just about getting up there and meeting coach DeBord and putting a face to a voice," Kendall said. "It was good to see him and meet him, finally. He's a real personable person and it was good to see him and hang out with him." "He's really energetic and I didn't expect that at all because he I know he's a little older. But, he's full of energy. I think he has a lot of knowledge, too," Kendall said.

"We did a lot of football stuff and we broke down the film and he showed me what Tennessee does, how the NFL does some of the same stuff," Kendall said. "They're not really going to change much, they are just going to add more stuff to the offense. With his added knowledge it will be good."

After Mike Bajakian left Tennessee for the Tampa Bay Bucs Kendall admitted it was hard because of how long the two had known each other for and the relationship they had built. After meeting DeBord Kendall says he's growing more comfortable around the new man in charge of the Vols' offense. "It has settled down. I'm pretty comfortable," Kendall said.

"I'm not really sure how I'm going to handle it (his recruitment) right now," Kendall said. "I want to see a spring practice under him (DeBord) and how he's coaching the quarterbacks. He will be with the quarterbacks, if not most of the time, the whole time, and I want to see what that is like," Kendall said.

The Scout four-star prospect is one of six early commitments to Tennessee’s 2016 class and the only quarterback the staff figures to take, which was reiterated by Butch Jones on Saturday.

“Yeah, I talked to him for a little bit. They told me they’re only going to take one guy, but I’m excited about that,” Kendall said

Speculation circulated about Kendall’s status with Tennessee after*Quinten Dormady,Jauan Jennings*and*Sheriron Jones*all joined the roster as part of the 2015 signing class.

“It’s not that much of a concern,” Kendall told InsideTennessee. “Wherever you go you want to play as soon as you can. That’s always in the back of your mind. You’re always going to compete anywhere you go.

“It’s not my top thing but I mean if the opportunity comes then yeah I’d love to do that. If I could I’d get a year under my belt and just experience it all. But, like I said, opportunities come. I think I have ability. I can play.”

Nobody had any sort of downfield passing game with this OL...including Worley. Won't stop you Dobbs-Haters from spewing nonsense, though.

Can you translate that into English for us? We don't speak Gibberish

I'm gonna say it...

Kendall/family follows VN, and the over reaction on here to DeBord spooked them a bit
I'm hoping I was/am wrong about him, but there were legit reasons for concern. However, once I saw the presser, I realized what Butch was doing and understand the "Why" a bit more.

Butch wanted to keep HIS system intact, and he might have promoted Azzani to do that, except this ain't the time for OJT at coordinator. Not in the middle of a major rebuilding process. Even though he had been out of work for a while and hadn't called plays in several years, Butch knew DeBord was capable of running the offense.

And it's good that he gave Azzani a slight promotion/more responsibility, in the process.

I am certainly not an expert on talent but watching a highlight film on him, I hope we do exactly what he was told on his visit. We need to take him and call it a year for quarterbacks. I thought he looked exceptional, especially downfield throws. Hope he sticks!

this all day long. the only reason people want other players is because they like watching a QB run half the time. watching Kendall throw>>>>>>>watching anyone else throw (that we are in on)

Very accurate but coaches will want a more upright throwing motion. The ball starts out at his hip now.

Man he throws a pretty ball. Great touch on his deep ball. He does have a bit of a sidearm motion, and he tends to throw off of his back foot a lot in those highlights. Those things are correctable with coaching.

If they expect a QB to stick, just don't lie to him up front and tell him he's "the guy" and "you are only signing one". Then follow that up with offers to other QBs. For all we know Butch could have told Kendall he was only taking QD and JJ in 2015. Austin did commit before Jones did.

It is kind if funny that fans think lying to a kid is fine to get the commitment. Now if he decommits because of the lies, he doesn't want to compete. Trusting your coaches is kind of a big deal IMO.
If u keep spewing this crap, ur gonna end up having conversations with yourself (If u don't already).

like the film a lot. side arm motion is weird. Only thing that caught my eye is that most of the throws are lobs letting the WR run under them. I would have liked to seen more passes in the 5-15yrd range. and he isn't afraid to stay in and take a hit to deliver the ball down field.

I was impressed by the video. He is a real gunslinger. When needed, he threw a bullet deep in the middle. Showed nice touch putting the ball over the defender to his WR. It takes some QBs a long time to develop that kind of touch. He's got quick feet and gets out of trouble nicely. Even while on the run, he does a good job of finding targets. Seems to see the field well. I understand now why everyone is so high on him. While he may take a bit of time learning the offense, he looks ready to complete. I'm surprised more top teams are not after him. Thanks for posting the video.

AK is the real deal. FWIW - he's throwing his receivers open on the deep ball. The special ones do that. There is a difference in lobbing it up to run under it and fitting a ball with the right loft in a window that protects for angles taken by d-backs.

Since I ignored LV a week or two ago, I haven't noticed him popping up as much in threads. Obviously, I would see that he had posted something that was ignored if he had, but I'm not seeing it nearly as much as I used to see actual posts by him. Is he curbing his volnation time?
