'16 NC RB BJ Emmons

I think it was for Hurd's benefit as well as future recruits. I think the more multiple you can make your O is a good thing. I think it took the extra bowl practice time to add stuff like this and will be used in the future. You just can't add things like this in the middle of the year and work on it when you are preparing to play. I think CBJ is growing as a coach and learning you can keep the integrity of your offensive philosophy while adding other things that will make it better.

Per Hubbs

If Kamara were to leave expect Tennessee to make a big push with BJ Emmons.

Emmons has never stopped talking to Robert Gillespie and if something were to happen and a spot open up in Tennessee's backfield don't be surprised if Emmons pays a visit to Knoxville.

Wondering if our pro style under-center sets might have something to do with Emmons?

I doubt we'd add a formation for a recruit. It was probably more of a look Northwestern hasn't seen from us and Jalen is a grown damn man with the rock in his hands

How would this affect CFA since he was told he was going to be the only back taken

I am sure they told him, that is as depth chart is right now, but if something changed whether that be someone go pro or get dismissed obviously must fill spot. It's not like just adding another Rb to the competition, just keeping numbers same as when he committed.

These guys are smart enough to know that not all RBs are recruited to play same position of RB, just as not all DE play the same position. If we lose AK, it should be understood why another position should be filled.

Is he eligible (other than being able to get into Alabama b/c he has a pulse)?

He was asked the question about it in the presser and the answer was as you suggest IMO They added a wrinkle that NU was not expecting that is used by many running teams that use h-backs instead of FBs. He referred to it as a sprint draw type action. I love it. With this method the TE (h-back) can lead block in the hole, trap block to the outside, or go out in a pattern on a QB read with play action. It has to make all three - QB, RB and TE happy to have all those options available.

Hurd showed how dominant he can be with a lead blocker. I really hope we do that more.

In fairness, Jalen has had a lead blocker quite a bit this season. Not FBs from the I-form, but pulling linemen and TEs. We run ALOT of basic "Power O" run plays from the shotgun... Also a bread and butter play of ole Urban Meyer at OSU.

Very true...but I think the short yardage downs would benefit having an off-line blocker in front. Not to mention the extra momentum gained before getting the ball in his hands.
