Wondering if our pro style under-center sets might have something to do with Emmons?
Also it got Hurd north and south and he wasn't trying to outrun people to the sidelines. Like catbone said I think it's more suited to his style of play.
if on the field performance is a barometer for future NFL success. Kamara needs another year. Really.
Foster was a beast his junior year other than that he wasted his time here.Hurd is a better back with a worse line. The line is getting alot better but his freshman year it was bad.
He's better than Foster. IMO
I don't think our OL has been good enough to enable Hurd to shine the way he could. Next year should be his true breakout season. He's had to fight and scrap for just about everything he's gotten thus far.In ways he is. I miss seeing a UT feature back be a true home run threat. Hurd is steady and will go down as one of the greatest to ever wear the orange if he stays healthy, but I long to see him just outrun everybody on the field like Foster and many more before him were known to do.
Hurd is just a different type of back, though, and I can appreciate that too. He's set to become the all-time leader in rushing yards, and if everything goes right he could obliterate the record.
But Jack Jones still has a lot of growing to do. He's very undersized for a RG in the SEC. Don't doubt his toughness and skill, but in the trenches, sometimes those big maulers is what keeps the chains moving. Wisconson was known for that, and Beliema brought that approach with him...and beat us with it.Jack Jones be like:

I'm absolutely convinced that was the difference in the game. They had the biggest OL in all of football, College or NFL, and we were starting Vickers and Williams....both undersized DT's. Arkansas was able to exploit that size differential and it's why we couldn't stop their running game.
One of the reasons we run uptempo is to wear defenses down. Having a big 350lb OG beating on you for 3+ qtrs will also wear down a 280lb DT, no matter how good he is.
The second half of his freshman year he carried us the last half of the year. Is becoming the all time rushing leader wasted time?
I've said this before and got blasted. I also commented yesterday in the game thread that this was the most north-south I've seen Hurd play all year. I feel like he didn't use his size to his advantage enough during the season and spent too much time trying to outrun CB or LB to the edge.
Wiesman isn't going anywhere...... Richmond will step and we'll get even better up front.
