'16 NC RB BJ Emmons

There's a small part of me that wants to be salty about us getting him on the path to qualify just for him to go to bama. Then I remind myself that's weird to care about high school boys and I get over it

I think Saban knowingly recruits talented guys who will likely never start for the Tide due to depth chart logjams just to keep them away from other SEC teams.

Bear Bryant most definitely did that back in the "Wild West" days of virtually no limitations on the number of scholarship signees.

I didn't follow his recruitment and this thread is 23 pages long so too long to actual research myself. Anyone care to recap for me? We're we in good with him, then he spurned us for Alabama? Is there a strong chance he comes here?

So he would be a 2018 or 2019 guy?

My understanding is that he will be attending Hutchinson CC this season and will transfer and enroll for the 2018 season, so he would have to be a 2018 counter.

But, I do not see Tennessee being interested in bringing him in. I may be dead wrong on this, but with Chandler, Dixon and Grant being youngsters and Kelly being a senior, I don't see us taking a transfer when there are highly rated RB's in our own state coming up in the 2019 class.

I think you're wrong. By the time Emmons came here, we'd have him for 1-2 years. Kelly could be gone after next season (although I doubt he will be). And Chandler will only be a sophomore next year.

You need running backs and depth. Our best teams always had multiple stud runningbacks.

Take this kid and by the time 2019 class backs are ready to get extended playing time, Kelly and Emmons are already gone.

As much as we hate them... Alabama has been the standard in college football. They have like 7 scholared running backs on their roster.

I would think you would want to take Emmons . A couple RB's like Fils aime or Coleman etc could leave , so then you could have a 3 headed monster with John Kelly, BJ Emmons, and Ty Chandler .

Emmons had some grade concerns throughout the process and some teams started to back off from him . He was committed to UGA for a bit then he backed off, then he was for sure coming to Tennessee then you know Saban just came in .

Why is Carin Fils-Aime never in the conversation as one of our RBs that will contribute. He was a four star out of Fla. Yet VN never even seems to consider him. We haven't really seen him to even know if he can do anything or not. I know he is a bit undersized but with better S&C maybe that can be helped some. Just curious as to what I am missing as to why everyone seems to have written him off already.
