'16 NC RB BJ Emmons

His in game carries were not impressive. Also, he is never mentioned by the media as "impressing" during practices or workouts.

Granted, limited carries with the back ups, but that is the reason he is overlooked. Tear off a 40 yard run here and there, and you won't have to worry about that anymore

This

I remember watching the end of blow out games John Kellys freshman year, when he got his chances he really impressed.

This is a good example where 'fixing academics' is backfiring for the kid. It was a 'miracle' (his coaches words) that he made it academically at Alabama and was accepted. It probably would have been better for Emmons academically to go the Juco route first where he could have learned the correct study habits.

I would still like to have Emmons over everyone not named Kelly and Chandler. Not to mention he is a different type of back. He would add versatility to the backfield.

Oh no doubt, he has plenty of talent, I just think Bama did him a disservice for his personal (academic) growth. Plenty saying he has struggled an we know how much help and tutors these guys get.

Several I read said he wouldn't be eligible coming out of high school. Wasn't a problem for Alabama.

Was he academically ineligible in Tuscaloosa? Eddie Lacy was the same level coming out and didn't have trouble.

Article from 2 months ago; our use of Kamara should be a strong selling point...

"You're a truck," Dillon Sain told B.J. Emmons when he saw the Alabama running back earlier this week. It was the first time they had seen each other since November. Noticeable immediately for Sain was how much broader and more muscular Emmons looked in the upper body. After weighing about 210 pounds as a freshman last season, the 6-foot sophomore running back is up to a muscular 237 pounds, is only eight percent body fat and has told Sain that he feels faster than ever. That's notable considering a then-232-pound Emmons ran the 40-yard dash in 4.43 seconds at the Under Armour All-America Combine when he was in high school.

...Emmons is friends with former Alabama and Tennessee running back Alvin Kamara, a versatile player who ran for 698 yards with the Vols last year while also catching 34 passes and returning nine punts. Emmons believes he can be that same type of multi-dimensional player for Alabama, eager to prove worthy of seeing time at both running back and as a returner.

Yass....

Listen to ejb on here. He clearly knows his Emmons

234 pounds? We need this type of punishing back. Not that Kelley is chopped liver but let them chase him around awhile, get winded put in a fresh Emmons. Let him punish them awhile, mix in a tad of Chandler and then back to Kelley.

Grind that D into dust.

Would love to see us pursue BJ coming out of JUCO. There is no doubt AK's success could be a huge selling point here and the need at RB is massive.

From what I hear he made the honor roll at Alabama. Academics are not an issue.

That would be great if he has his academic affairs in order. I think a 1-2 punch of Emmons and Kelly with Chandler playing Kelly's role last year would but Tennessee in a great spot. Especially if the O-line lives up to its potential.

I could be wrong, but it seems like Kamara is one of the few that's left the program at Bama and had a lot of success elsewhere.. If so, I really like the vols chances here. Also, vols seem to be one of the few programs who has had success with JUCO RBs. I remember Jovon Robinson being a bust for Auburn.

People had Robinson pegged as a first pick in JUCO

Same with Duke Williams
