Thought this was strange since he doesn't hold a offer.Maybe the Vols stay in contact with him.

"Dowdle landed a scholarship offer from South Carolina earlier this week. He said Saturday that he will likely commit by the end of January to either the Gamecocks, Tennessee, Wake Forest or N.C. State."

I find it hilarious that many Vandy guys were really hoping to land this guy and he doesn't even mention them.

Dowdle’s originally from Gaffney and still has family there. He grew up a South Carolina fan and was thrilled to receive an offer from the Gamecocks.

“It’s a school I’ve always been interested in. It was my dream school when I was younger because I’m originally from South Carolina,” he explained. “It’s somewhere that I’ve always wanted to go, the South Carolina Gamecocks. I like that coach (Shawn) Elliott got it done like he told me he was. That’s very exciting.”

Dowdle’s planning to take official visits to Wake Forest Jan. 15, South Carolina Jan. 22 and possibly Tennessee Jan. 29. He said he hopes to make a decision by the end of January.

Dowdle's a tremendous talent and I think we would've offered months ago w/o Fils-Aime's commitment. His final numbers this year: 247 carries for 2,545 yards & 51 TDs...119 of 174 passing for 1,434 yards, 11 TDs & 4 INTs...and 1 TD reception.

I like him. I think in the past two years he's a take, but with limited numbers it's looking like it will come down to numbers. But, I'm a fan of his.

Any chance here if Kamara goes to the draft? I know we've told Carlin he is the only back this class, but surely he would understand the need for a second if Kamara were to leave.

Not a chance that Kamara is going to the draft

I wouldn't have thought so either, but in another thread it was stated that he asked to be evaluated by the NFL advisory board, and was believed to be debating if he could improve his stock any next year here still playing behind Hurd.

I think he will get more playing time this year. He basically has no stock right now so..

That explains a lot. Shows confidence in Carlin, Young, and Kelly going forward but you can never have enough good backs.

Next cycle is deep at skill positions. Tennessee is in on some Nashville kids, one a 6'0" 220 RB from Memphis area. Only two bonafide linemen in area at present.

Some skill names are Higgins, Rodgers, Chandler, and Richardson.

Well, it kind of speaks volumes that we made his final 4, although we haven't offered. My guess is he would sign with us if we offered.

maybe. Asheville aint exactly a sports town. During my bachelor party we went downtown to find a place to watch the game and chill before going out. Several places turned their noses to us.

Anyway. Theres a big TN precense there, a kid like this could have four or five 'dreams schools'. my pt is CBJ may just wait and try to get a bruiser next cycle.

Asheville downtown has always been a bastion of liberal, snooty, "sophisticates". It isn't representative of the surrounding area or even most of the town itself.

Western NC as a whole is football crazy.
