It's in your name, but this always stems from your potshots...Chattanooga boy so I don't get snobby or cliquish WHEREVER talent is. Of course I don't slap their rear ends in camps so I should defer to you. :yu:

I'm doing more private college prep work now man. If I get a kid to transfer here from Texas I won't turn my nose up at him. :)

Progress...you'll probably educate him on how inferior his talent base is tho? :wink2:

Never that. ::lol: my job is to train athletes brother. Like I said I like the southern players. You enjoy the Texas talent. No big deal man.

I APPRECIATE talent...wherever it is...don't know how much joy I get out of it.

Regions and States always have a preference for who they think produces the best players. No big deal at all man. Just a friendly rivalry. Reason why the HS teams play each other in out of state games. There's no animosity towards the players. But I can say as I've said in the past it's easy to tell a Texas HS player. Kid will be coached up very well.

Whether it comes out in our exchanges or not, I respect your knowledge...I love a good argument even more. :salute:

I have never seen HS football like I have seen in TX. Heck some of their High schools look like small college campuses. They have the $$$$,,,,

Oh yeah the oil money is serious. The coaching is the best in the country top to bottom. Athletes just all look the same. They have a lot of "good" players no doubt. :)

But you rarely see a Guarantano type out there for some odd reason.

Size-Strength-Mobility
This kid is really going to develop into a physical presence over time. He is tall, long and gangly, but with good body coordination and he is only going to add bulk and strength over time. From a measurables standpoint he looks like an underdeveloped Marcus Mariota. Is capable of being a difference maker as a runner either designated or improvised. Has very good initial quickness and overall foot speed for the position.

Mental-Makeup
We really like his ability to maintain field vision with people in his face or the pocket collapsing around almost to his detriment. He will get so locked on to a target that he has no regard for the rush, which is nice to see, but you'd also like to see him come off to another option quicker and with more pre-snap/post-snap recognition. He is very confident in his ability -- stands tall, throws with authority and will take off and run at any moment. Shows command of the scheme and shows flashes of being a rhythm passer that can divvy the ball to various options.

Accuracy
A strong area. Shows a balanced set up and good footwork to consistently hit the strikezone. Is very good on intermediate throws between the numbers between linebacker/safety level. Can drop the ball in over the top of coverage with touch and timing. Leads receivers when necessary, but can also stick it on the target in tight quarters.

Release/Arm Strength
Throwing mechanics and arm strength has really improved. Has become a smoother thrower with his delivery mechanics. Ball comes out quickly and with a consisted stroke. As a younger player he was a bit more tense and robotic, but has loosened up. Shows plenty of arm power to drive the ball when feet are set and even make throws off balance and on the run with good zip. There are moments when he will look really authoritative as pocket passer and drive the ball. He's a dual-threat that can zip it.

Bottom Line
Guarantano is continuing to get better and better. He's a passer first, runner second, but can be utilized as a designated runner in the zone read scheme which makes for a great play-action game with him. He is highly competitive and very productive overall. Will see attention from multiple power five conferences and particularly those who want athleticism under center.

Underclassman Eval
STRENGTHS: is a good looking prospect physically with developmental upside to his frame. Is a very good overall athlete who throws the football very well on the move. Has good footwork and set up and throws from a balanced platform. Can get rid of the football quickly and is very efficient in the short and intermediate passing game. Is an efficient and productive player in an offense that requires many different types of throws. ...

AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: Doesn't appear to be overly flexible or always fluid with dropping from center. Arm strength is good, not great. Can lock out front leg and does not follow through with release. Release can be a bit low and slightly stiff. ...

BOTTOM LINE: Guarantano plays with poise and confidence. Is a good enough athlete to be a runner if need be. We wish he were a little more loose and fluid in his overall methods, but he does produce. More experience and physical maturity should allow him to bring his game to another level.

ESPN's evaluations are terrible if they think JG has "good not great arm strength." The kid has one of the strongest arms I've seen. And Trent Dilfer said the at the elite 11 camp when he said JG had all the tools.

He said the same thing about Torrance Gibson...you know? ...the Ohio State WR? :wink2:

You're looking at the underclassman writeup. In the current writeup, they praise his arm strength.

He'd be playing QB at Appy...I tried to help him. :hmm:

LMAO...:lolabove::lolabove:

Dilfer also stated JG's biggest weakness is that he may be too talented and the subtle things are the things he needs to work on the most. But he said the sky is the limit for JG. I think Dilfer really liked him more than any QB as far as upside and potential goes.

Someone on VQ asked if JG would be getting a bump in the new rankings coming out soon...

Hard to predict exactly where he will end up in the national rankings but it's safe to say he will be moving up.

FWIW...

Will he play? In what would create the biggest story line in New Jersey football next weekend, whispers have been swirling the past few weeks in Oradell regarding the status of injured Bergen Catholic quarterback Jarrett Guarantano.

The Tennessee-bound senior suffered ligament damage near the top of his foot Oct. 3 against Paramus Catholic. Many at the time declared it could be season-ending, but no one ever really gave a definitive answer. But Guarantano held out hope he could return.

Then on Oct. 22, Guarantano said, “Playoffs should be pretty interesting, if you get what I’m saying,” in a text message to The Record.

Quarterback comeback?

Bergen Catholic’s Tennessee-bound senior QB Jarrett Guarantano has been sidelined since last month with a foot injury. His status for the much-anticipated Non-Public Group 4 showdown Saturday night with Don Bosco remains a mystery that probably won’t be revealed until just before kickoff.
