Probably. There's always a chance that Feaster is just telling the Clemson people what they want to hear to get the hometown pressure crowd off his back.
I can't speak for Palmer but in talking to some Clemson friends I think most of the high level Clemson fans are impressed with what TN did and in no way are taking us lightly but feel that the 4 year relationship their staff has with Tavien and his Mom will be very tough to break without something major happening.
They think that Feaster probably hasn't felt the love that he did early in his Clemson recruitment and that opened the door for the relentless TN staff to get him to visit. This visit obviously went great for reasons that we all know about TN and that will get TF thinking. But it will be key to see what he says and our people say a few days after the visit to see what the Clemson coaches are able to do to get past this situation.
Many of their fans are confident that due to the relationship they'll be able, with some hard work, get Tavien back on campus and get him to confirm his longterm commitment again and shut it down and never take the key OV that we would need to get his mom on board.
Now they all admit if they aren't able to keep that OV from happening then it is pretty much 50/50 at that point and all bets are off.
Clemson didn't take an RB last year to show Tavien that he is their future so they would need to move on and try and get another top back if he were to drop them and they don't think he'll do that to them last minute.
Anyway this is a summary of some conversations I've had with the other side.
So if Clemson was to start recruiting other RBs we should take that as a really positive sign? An official for us and Clemson pursuing another RB may equal Vol lock if that happens in the future.I can't speak for Palmer but in talking to some Clemson friends I think most of the high level Clemson fans are impressed with what TN did and in no way are taking us lightly but feel that the 4 year relationship their staff has with Tavien and his Mom will be very tough to break without something major happening.
