'16 SC RB Tavien Feaster

Looks like the sun is shining bright this morning in the eastern part of Tenn :) I'm going to try and go back and answer some of these questions, as well as my take, along with what our insiders are hearing.

In the meantime, please refrain from going to tigernet for god's sake. It's a complete cesspool for the most part. All of "those fans" from our fanbase are frequent visitors to that site. We all got them, ours are just herded into one place.

So Tigernet = Volnation Football Forum?

Good to know lol.

I can't speak for Palmer but in talking to some Clemson friends I think most of the high level Clemson fans are impressed with what TN did and in no way are taking us lightly but feel that the 4 year relationship their staff has with Tavien and his Mom will be very tough to break without something major happening.

They think that Feaster probably hasn't felt the love that he did early in his Clemson recruitment and that opened the door for the relentless TN staff to get him to visit. This visit obviously went great for reasons that we all know about TN and that will get TF thinking. But it will be key to see what he says and our people say a few days after the visit to see what the Clemson coaches are able to do to get past this situation.

Many of their fans are confident that due to the relationship they'll be able, with some hard work, get Tavien back on campus and get him to confirm his longterm commitment again and shut it down and never take the key OV that we would need to get his mom on board.

Now they all admit if they aren't able to keep that OV from happening then it is pretty much 50/50 at that point and all bets are off.

Clemson didn't take an RB last year to show Tavien that he is their future so they would need to move on and try and get another top back if he were to drop them and they don't think he'll do that to them last minute.

Anyway this is a summary of some conversations I've had with the other side.
Sounds good. Thanks for the info. I doubt they will be able to convince him to not take the OV especially after all we have heard so far. Hopefully we get an early OV like the Oklahoma game to give them little chance to sway him away. Have JG here and Davis for that game.

Quick Question. Are the fans really tweeting hateful things at Feaster?? If so that's horrible. Every fan base has them and we have ours as well but I have no respect to those that do it. Thanks for the info you bring.

First, Tenn did a 5* job this weekend. That is undeniable and I think they've positioned themselves well with still a lot of time to go. I don't think anymore could have been accomplished this weekend than what Butch was able to do. Our recruiting guru worded it well, IMO:

Vols head coach Butch Jones shadowed Feaster for much of the day, and we would have been more shocked if Feaster had not given the trip high praise. Tennessee's recruiting reputation is earned, and you don't make that visit without wanting to be the object of immense affection - something the Vols dole out well.

With that, Clemson's coaching staff are no slouches on the recruiting trail. One thing that has been mentioned on here (I only read a couple pages back, this is obviously a fast moving thread) is that he wasn't feeling the love from Clemson. I'm aware that was stated in his interview, but trust me, he's been a priority for this class for 4 years and nothing has changed since he committed. Clemson has contacted him as much as they legally can, via phone calls, visits, etc.

Dabo's been in this situation before with Ray Ray, Cain, and Deshaun and others. Most of Clemson's elite talent are usually committed by this point in the cycle, so this isn't something new and Dabo has a good track record of putting out such fires. They can't all be like Sammy, who essentially told schools to not even bother calling him after he committed.

All of this is to essentially to say that he's not looking to garner more attention from Clemson or genuinely feels underappreciated. Committed prospects are off the radar, they don't get as many articles written about them as some of their peers (even when they're clearly better), and sometimes just like to create a little buzz.

I want to spell this out, because I don't want that to be misconstrued, this is not to dismiss how he feels about Tenn. I do think he has a high level of interest in them, and I can't blame him. Tenn has a lot to offer, phenomenal facilities, and Butch is one of the best recruiters in the business. Of course he's going to knock it out of the park during his biggest recruiting weekend, and all returns are that he did just that.

In short, Feaster's recruitment went from a forgone conclusion to something everyone will be keeping a very keen eye on. IMO, people who dismiss this visit, and Tenn, are just as crazy (and wrong) as those that are completely freaking out and in meltdown mode.

Clemson still has a lot of advantages, which I'll come back and detail later this afternoon.........

I haven't heard or read anything like that, but I'm not a big twitter guy. I'm not sure how much weight you could put into that, it very well could even be Tenn or USCjr fans in disguise trying to stir the pot. Either way, tough for me to see twitter playing any kind of significant role in his recruitment.

I'm hearing Clemson fans are also in meltdown mode due to one of their QB commits visited Florida over the weekend. It seems the Clemson coaching staff has been slacking lately.

Danny Parker-Scout

After this visit, I most definitely have to re-evaluate everything I’ve thought about Tennessee. Like I said, when they came in the first time, they were on me hard. They’ve always recruited me hard, but Clemson was selling the whole in-state thing. When I realized they’re just about the same length away from my house, it was like, ‘That’s really not that far.’

“If I go to Tennessee, I can get away from home and just be myself, no distractions, no nothing.”

The Spartanburg High School standout with 4.34 speed would like to enroll in college this winter but that may not be an option.

“The way my school is set up, you take year-long courses, but I’m fully qualified if I was to leave in January. If my school lets me take classes one semester, then I’ll be a January enrollee.”

Florida has been pushing the depth chart on committed QB's all across the southeast. Sometimes kids listen. Not much you can do about that, and he was upfront with our coaching staff which is all you can ask. We do have a new QB coach, so I can understand at least listening when a school like Florida comes calling.

I can assure you there aren't many- if any- recruiting staffs that outwork Clemson's. That's what Dabo does, and he's very passionate about it.

FWIW, returns are that visit did not go near as well as Feaster's to Tenn, lol.

I know. I was just wondering. It's horrible that people acctualky do it. In disguise or not.

The way the story reads, he was only "upfront" with Clemson after he was "spotted at Florida."

Not doubting Dabo's recruiting prowess but, I honestly cannot fathom a staff that works more tirelessly and earnestly than Butch Jones'.

If Feaster is in fact listening and buying into what Butch is putting out there, this will be an all out war until he comes out and says his recruitment is done...or signs his LOI, whichever comes first.
