I've been wanting to pull the trigger to be honest," Middleton told InsideTennessee.

"It was beautiful up there and the coaches are awesome. The teammates look like they get along just great. It just seemed like something that would benefit me and that's what I want. I want something that's going to benefit me," Middleton said.

"That's going to be awesome," Middleton said. "Actually, to be honest, this spring I asked the coaches if I could go put on a uniform. (Jones) laughed just like you did."

"I can't wait. I can't wait to talk to him in the morning. It just seemed like every time I've talked to him I've known this man since I've been living. We just get along like best friends like we've been knowing each other for the longest. He's a great person."

Michigan, Mississippi State (both sports), Ole Miss, South Carolina and USC were some of the top schools sending the Volunteer State standout letters and information about their programs.

"Those letters have been put up in a box," Middleton said. "They're at the bottom of the box."

That's all I needed to read.

Welcome home Darel! Good to see a true UT Fan commit so early with no doubts.

I often wonder how in state players commit somewhere else! I mean i really do. But It is so refreshing when I see an instate player commit early because he knows what he wants and what he likes. Just love to see that and wish we had more in state players with the same mind set!

I feel like rip van winkle waking up in a whole new world. It's been so long since I've been excited about the direction of the program.

I'm cautiously optimistic about CBJ, but deep down I really want him to succeed here.

Kid had some pretty solid highlights at defensive end maybe he can grow and be solid at that position.

No telling how big this guy will get. Prob a TE (I know lol) if he stays on offense but im hoping for a freak defensive terror. Its so much easier to win when the other team cant score. VOLS BUTCH!

What a get. Huge for the program that the riptide in recruiting is reaching the 2016 class. Just can't believe the turnaround in just recruiting.

It's crazy to think that TKJr and Hurd aren't playing this year, but the next. But by the time this guy gets on
Campus, TK and Hurd will be Juniors! That's how extensive our recruiting is going. Ridiculous. In a great way of course

I'm not cautiously optimistic about CBJ. I'm extremely optimistic. Players want to play for him, plain and simple. As long as he's recruiting at this rate, he's going to be extremely successful. Not sure if he'll bring us a national title, but I have no doubt he'll return us to relevance in a big way.

The biggest concern I have is will the fan base give him a pass for this fall? I still think this year will be a dog-fight to make a bowl game. I just hope folks aren't calling for his head if we finish 5-7 again. As long as we can stick with him through the early struggles, CBJ will do very well here.

totally agree. I think 6-6 (ending 7-6 with a bowl win) should be the goal. we need to realize that an extensive rebuilding effort is necessary to get us back to the top

How do you think this team stacks up with Kiffin's 2009 team? They went 7-5 in year one and I think they're a good measuring bar for this year's team.

“I’ve been wanting to commit, but I just had to think about it,” he said. “I don’t know. I’ve just always wanted to be a Vol. As soon as I got the offer, I was surprised and I just wanted to go there.

“I’ve been a UT fan since I was little. We’ve done fell off, but still, I’ve been loving UT ever since.”

“I mean, me and my family sat and talked about, and then I just told them to give me a minute and I just thought about it,” he said. “I just had that feeling, that orange going through my brain, and I wanted to commit.”

Anywhere they put me (at Tennessee), I’m going to play and I’m going to go hard at it.”

Says he's going to be playing WR, TE, and OLB (in the 3-4 - Jack) for his HS this year. Anyways, love this commitment.

The first two years imo. We lose our entire o-line, possibly Maggit and Johnson, and most of our D-line as well. I agree though, CBJ will have us back with the way he is recruiting
