'16 TN ATH JoeJuan Williams

Isn't this what Cali did with Khalil?

Yes, but that was because he moved purely for athletic reasons and stayed in the same house. Joejuan actually moved houses if I understood De1 correctly. I personally don't ever see why someone should be ineligible moving from a private to a public school, especially if the family actually moved.

As i reportedto you guy long ago this is a real rule. Using a crow in reference to distance over the distance in a car. This shows how far behind ourstate athletics are. Its furthermore why TN athletes have bn over looked too and why our athletics aren't taken seriously. But hey he'll still finish #1 in the state we're deciding whether or not the file in court to help future players, and nullify this dumb ass rule.

I hope they do take that rule to court. Can you or anyone even explain what reason (if though ridiculous) they have for this rule?

Can't understand how moving from a private to a public is forbidden in California...doesn't work the other way "for athletic reasons".

What about financial situation changing. If his parents lost a job and couldn't afford that private school any longer?

I just can not figure a reason for the rule, it's not like he is going from one public school to another while living in same house, just to play on a better team. I can understand that, because some schools maybe cheating to stack a team. That still happens though, because I don't believe that many talented athletes just happen to live in Fulton, Alcoa, and Maryville areas.

Tssaa doesn't value a year of eligibility like it should. Throwing out suspensions and such like its no big deal.. These guys have 3-4 years to show what they got, and that's it... That one year could be a difference maker in a kids life.

Im sure if you got everyone's side of the story there is enough blame to go around. I wouldnt put ALL this on the TSSAA.

It's a stupid rule for sure. JoeJuan will end up fine though. The problem is an underrated kid could fall between the cracks and potentially not get a scholarship at all. As bad as it sucks for the kid to miss a season, hopefully the attention this gets will result in this DA rule being changed.

Just trying to make a positive out of a negative.

Deconley said he wanted to EE; that's impossible to do at FRHS. That right there should be good enough reason to make him eligible. Punishing kids who are able to take care of business in the classroom ahead of schedule seems contrary to the idea of education. He should be your "model student".

I hope FRHS isn't somewhat involved in preventing this move because they lost a once in a lifetime talent that doesn't come through their doors often.

You 2 guys are talking a bunch of jibberish. In what other state is it illegal or against the rules to transfer private to public or from one county to the next. Definitely not the ones surrounding TN. The kid's mother had to find a place to live and it was not feasible to get him to FRHS. He live far from his old address and in a different county. Why would "we" the ppl around him think to tell him or his mother this is not a good idea to move and change schools with a plan to EE? Only the tssaa does dumb s&#t like this not in KY, Miss, Ala, NC or Ga.

So TSSAA is a backwards bunch that has silly rules and does dumb s&#t, but no one thinks to check on the transfer rules to a school 20 mi away?

I don't agree with the rule. My comment was simply that someone should have said/questioned/reached out to TSSAA/talked to HHS/etc before actually transferring. Hindsight is 20/20 but there are enough examples of intelligibility in TN due to moving.

And when I said someone in my original post I definitely wasn't thinking of you, my first thought was coaches and family.

I know one thing, Lussier loves to win so could be a distant possibility. I played for him when he was at OR.

Family?? So his mom should find a different place to move due to the tssaa? Not based on finances, education, or location to a job etc? Come on there's more than 1 logical reason for the move. The bottom line is tssaa is a bunch of idiot pricks. Do you not get how far it is from his old residence, and it's in a different county? What do they want the kid to do move to a different state? The rule is dumb and it's the parents, ppl of the state of TN who love to watch the kids, and coaches/schools responsibility to gonafter the tssaa in court or sign a petition to make these idiots wake up and make new amendments to their old stupid rules.

I have no clue but it was supposedly a fake rule due to BA and recruiting kids then when it wasn't working out at BA kids were going bk to public schools. The thing is why penalize someone when there are plenty of reasons and clearly the kid had no bearing on it. Many may forget but Hurd moved from MBA to Beech w/o an issue at all. So there clearly has to be a personal agenda by the tssaa we can't figure out.

Fire up the petition, brother. I think we'll all sign it. :good!:

The thing is you can go public to public a kid named Nick Fuqua went to Overton from Caine Ridge no problem at all. Its very weird to say the least.

To me, this rule is mind-numbingly stupid and without any forethought or logic, whatsoever. All it does is penalize the kids and does nothing to prevent kids from leaving a school to go to a "better" one. It should be a no brainer if you leave the county.

Preach. I have no idea about Williams nor his family's financial situation but with some kids there are restrictions on where they can afford to live. When you factor in wanting to raise your kid in a good, safe environment as well that can restrict what some poor families can afford. This country is all about giving people the opportunity to improve their situations not being held back by some bureaucratic BS. Like I said I feel bad for Williams but honestly he is going to have an opportunity to make a great future for himself regardless but what of the guys that get screwed out of a scholarship because of this BS rule.

Like I said enough blame to go around. Not all on the TSSAA. Agree/Disagree Father Ryan has had that rule for years you know it before joining the school. I am close to Fr Ryan and I wish they wouldve bent the rule for him, but then again I admire them somewhat for staying true to what they believe in.
I am pretty confident they didnt tamper with the process.

You keep saying this. I haven't really seen an explanation as to why you really feel this way. Also, what do you mean FRHS has had that rule for years? They have a rule that if you play football for them and decide to go back to public school, they'll sick the tssaa on you?

I know I sound like a smart ass here, but that is what it sounds like your saying. I'm sorry, but if a kid is going to private school and they or their parents decide to go to public school instead, that is their call. A private school should in no way be able to dictate what does or does not happen in the public school system.....academically or athletically.

Its a TSSAA rule keeping him from playing at Hendersonville, not a Fr Ryan rule.
The rule I was speaking of is not allowing students to graduate early to enroll in college.
They let you know this when you play sports for them.
