'16 TN ATH JoeJuan Williams

Its a TSSAA rule keeping him from playing at Hendersonville, not a Fr Ryan rule.
The rule I was speaking of is not allowing students to graduate early to enroll in college.
They let you know this when you play sports for them.

Aaaaaahhh. Never mind then. :)

I know one thing, Lussier loves to win so could be a distant possibility. I played for him when he was at OR.

FRHS is mediocre. They haven't gotten the "return" I think they expected when hiring him, but they don't take athletics too seriously. They're not into the recruiting/scholarship side like many private schools are, which my father in law says "that's why we're so pitiful, especially in football."

Like I said enough blame to go around. Not all on the TSSAA. Agree/Disagree Father Ryan has had that rule for years you know it before joining the school. I am close to Fr Ryan and I wish they wouldve bent the rule for him, but then again I admire them somewhat for staying true to what they believe in.
I am pretty confident they didnt tamper with the process.

What is that they believe in? What do they gain by a kid taking "extra" classes for a semester, other than tuition? My last semester of HS I took 2 AP classes and like 6 PE's and teacher aide classes because I had completed everything. It was a fun and easy way to wrap up HS but was also pointless. Granted FRHS is going to offer more choices than my redneck, public HS but I don't see what "chaining" a kid to school does.

You Catholic Velo? I didn't even know there were Catholics in the South until I met my wife haha. Her parents couldn't believe they were the first Caucasian Catholics I had ever met, cause the only Catholics I knew growing up were Hispanics. Nashville is like the Catholic Mecca of the South it seems; I can't believe how many Catholic churches there are in that city.

Sorry to get off topic, but what years did you play? I played during Gaddis' first stint '94-'96, but Lussier was my position coach.

Im Catholic, you are right there arent too many of us running around Tennessee. I think Tennessee has the smallest population of Catholics per capita.

Family?? So his mom should find a different place to move due to the tssaa? Not based on finances, education, or location to a job etc? Come on there's more than 1 logical reason for the move. The bottom line is tssaa is a bunch of idiot pricks. Do you not get how far it is from his old residence, and it's in a different county? What do they want the kid to do move to a different state? The rule is dumb and it's the parents, ppl of the state of TN who love to watch the kids, and coaches/schools responsibility to gonafter the tssaa in court or sign a petition to make these idiots wake up and make new amendments to their old stupid rules.

Hey, KnoxVegas... Did you use the same name on the Go Vols message boards, back before they became a pay site?

Regarding the supposed stipulation that players transferring from a private school to a public school must move to a school at least 20 miles away: it's not in the 2015-16 TSSAA Handbook, so where is this coming from? The Handbook lists the TSSAA's constitution & bylaws. If this 20-mile rule is not codified in writing, how is it even enforceable?

There are lots of FAQs regarding eligibility for students changing schools (pp. 52-55), but there's nary a thing about private-to-public transfers. The only mention of 20 miles has to do with home-schooled students who want to participate in extracurricular activities at a member school (pp. 19 & 20).

Really? Based on what I've witnessed since moving to middle TN I figured it would've been one of the higher ones in the South at least, behind LA, KY and FL. We were married at the Cathedral and her mother taught at CTK for almost 40 years.

I'm from northern middle Tennessee, and I'd met exactly 2 Catholics until I went to UT. Now, I live in a Catholic stronghold, where I am a minority as a Protestant.

That's how I was in small town, "old Florida". The coast and big cities were a different story. I looked at Catholics like they were foreigners.

Sorry to get the thread so far off topic.

I guarantee I know her mother.. CTK alum here

Also, we continue to hear that Tennessee is in good shape for instate defensive back Joejuan Williams. After a very unfortunate ruling that left Williams ineligible for his senior season because of TSSAA's transfer rule, Williams is still planning to enroll early at the school of his choice. Tennessee remains a very real option here.
