'16 TN OL Ryan Johnson (UT Commit 7/19/14)

He will be right around 100 in a couple months. This kid has the frame and athletic ability, and he will only get bigger and stronger with another year of workouts.
I love how these kids commit early, you know Coach Lawson has hooked them up with the official Vol workout. Going to be BuFF Bagwell status.

In all honesty, Lawson is one of the best S&C coaches on the college scene

The No. 1 player in Tennessee should not be that low.

IMO, of course. If he is indeed No. 1 like analysts think.

Rivals has several in front of him- JoeJuan Williams, Nygel Edmonds, Daniel Bituli, Bryce Matthews, and Emmit Gooden.

Tennessee commitment Ryan Johnson, a Top247 junior offensive tackle from Brentwood (Tenn.) Academy, posted on his Twitter account Saturday that he's planning to attend the Vols' open practice Saturday night at Neyland Stadium.

The 6-foot-5.5, 270-pound Johnson will be returning to Tennessee for the first time since he announced his commitment to the Vols on July 19. A nearly lifelong Tennessee fan, he chose the Vols over scholarship offers from Alabama, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Kansas State.

Johnson is ranked by 247Sports as the nation's No. 207 overall prospect and No. 18 offensive tackle in the 2016 class.

Barton Simmons loves Johnson...

"Out here at Brentwood Academy watching Ryan Johnson and others. Boy does Johnson look good. He's huge. Long. Just going through warmup he moves extremely well. And when he punches, he jolts whoever is in front of him.

Spoke to a Brentwood Academy person that thinks Bryce is the better of the two. Said he's more of the left tackle candidate because he is quicker in pass pro. Said that Johnson is a beast in the run game though.
I also hear that UT liked Johnson a little more in camp. They're close. I'll tell u what though, you aren't going to find many high school bookends as good looking as those two. Both really big long and aren't fat or too heavy.

Spoke to Bryce's dad. Doesn't sound like he's anywhere close to making a decision. Wants to go take some visits and learn about some of these schools. With Jason being from Texas originally he feels like they don't really know as much about some of these college programs as he'd like. Def doesn't hurt having Ryan already committed."

For those of you who have seen him play, does he have the athleticism to play left tackle or will he be on the right side. I know he plays right in high school, but that could just be because there is another stud on the other side.

Too bad him and his teammate Matthews can't graduate this yr lol

Just met this kid.He is a legit 6.6 6.7 right now.Told me he is wking Mathews hard every day.Would be nice too get a Lt and Rt from the same high school. For what it's worth he first came on the radar from his work in practice against none other than Derek Barnett. Proud to have this polite humble young man as a future Vol.

We met Ryan and his family tonight at dinner in Jacksonville Beach after the game. Very nice young man, no earth shattering news but wanted to brag on the young man and his manners. It was all yes sir/no sir. Said he was all Vol and his childhood dream to play for UT.
