'16 TN TE/LB Austin Pope (UT commit 6/15/15)

Pope is good TE investment. He has the size, build, speed, athleticism and hands. Will mix it up. Actually runs well after the catch, which the coaches have developed by running him as a RB out of the backfield at times.

If he is anything like Josh Smith he's worth his weight in gold.

I believe Austin is very underrated. I think he's gonna be a nice addition to our TE rotation. Seems to be a more athletic tight end than wolf but we'll see. I think it says something when a big guy like Austin can run by a whole defense no matter what compitition.

After watching his senior film, I really think he can stretch the field from the TE spot. He seems to have a very similar build and skill set to Travis Kelce coming out of high school. Maybe butch can do it again.

I like his potential. I honestly would not be surprised to see him on the field this year.

Hard to believe that so many posters that think they know talent seemingly cannot see it in him. But they usually do that with local kids. Austin is one of the most athletic football players in this class. He does everything well. I agree, I think we see him on the field this year.

Plays lb on D.So Iam sure he has a little aggressive streak in him also.Didn't this kid get kicked out of a game for fighting last year or early this season.

just spoke with vols tight end commit austin pope from christian academy of knoxville, and he said he loved his weekend visit to tennessee. It's not like he doesn't visit tennessee all the time, but it was a big weekend for the program, and he was happy to be there and spend a lot of time with his new position coach, larry scott.

Tennessee wasn't first to the party with the local tight end; Nebraska, Arkansas, Louisville, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State and a number of other programs threw in their hat before the Vols pulled the trigger in early June.

But, once Tennessee made the offer, the Vols quickly became the team to beat with Pope. After taking several unofficial visits and camping across the South, Pope made his way to Tennessee to camp and check out the campus. It was just a few days later that Pope decided to pull the trigger and become a Vol.
