Tennessee wasn't first to the party with the local tight end; Nebraska, Arkansas, Louisville, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State and a number of other programs threw in their hat before the Vols pulled the trigger in early June.
But, once Tennessee made the offer, the Vols quickly became the team to beat with Pope. After taking several unofficial visits and camping across the South, Pope made his way to Tennessee to camp and check out the campus. It was just a few days later that Pope decided to pull the trigger and become a Vol.
