'16 TX OT Kellen Deisch

Your point? Your blind if you can't see this OL is improved. It was even better with our true FR anchoring the right side. Did UGA have any sacks yesterday? They have some very good pass rushers, and I don't think they had one single sack.

They had one in the first half before the freshmen got in.

The OLine was better with Jones and Hall in the game.

I am very pleased with the FR OL in the UGA game. They made some mistakes as expected but they did very well. Both made some great blocks. I hope they can continue to improve.

While I wouldn't call the OL solid or good, I've been pleasantly surprised with them as well. They've made the move from absolutely terrible to mediocre (or maybe average) and that's a hugely encouraging move in the right direction.

Point is the OL is still wildly inconsistent and not a strength of this team.

Better than worst in history isn't an accomplishment.

They're much less of a liability this year though. They've improved and are taking steps in the right direction, even though they're down a man, have been banged up, and have been playing a lot of young guys. Of course they're not there yet, but the improvement has been encouraging.

To go from terrible to great, you have to become average first.

Now down 2 men by my count: Marcus Jackson & Jashon Robertson

OL will be much better next year with Hall, Jones, Coleman, Robertson & Richmond starting.

The O line has been the crux of our offense. They are at least partially responsible for the second half collapses we've had this year.

There are a lot of things that are partially responsible for our second half collapses. The play-calling was at times overly predictable and our defense has struggled badly as well

Huh? All we needed in both of those losses where we had a 2nd half collapse is one single little play to be made by our defense...ONE. And they had many, many chances to do it. They finally did Saturday night. I have never said our OL is a strength, but that they are definitely improved from last year considerably. Even Coleman looked decent starting the game at RT Saturday. I believe we gave up a combined 3 sacks against Florida and Georgia (someone correct me if I'm wrong)...that's not too bad considering the pass rushers that those teams have. And I'm pretty sure we may have given up almost double digit sacks to those 2 teams combined last year. Improvement. (Ftr, I do know Dobbs vs Worley at QB helps that numbe too, but I didn't see Dobbs running for his life that much Saturday night as he dropped back to throw 42 times.)

This is the complicating factor...if Debord is the reason for the improvement, see ya Mahoney. If not, then I'm good with giving Mahoney one more year, if that's what Butch chooses.

Only Butch knows the answer to that. Same with the WR position. It was reported that Butch worked with the WR last week. Was that the reason for the resurgence of the receivers?

I'd say yes. Those WRs had a new brand of fight in them especially Malone. Malone even straight blasted the Saftey that was supposed to guard Josh Smith on the TD. I know a lot are saying he wasn't throwing to Smith which is probably but it also looked a bit like a pick play. I mean Malone Trucked the guy knocking him down leaving an open spot for Smith. I have never seen him truck a guy. He usually avoids contact

I've looked at it several times. It looks to me like it was a designed play for Malone to take out the defender for Josh Smith.

Malone's coming out party. Could be the beginning of something special with him.

Common opinion, but he has the old guys playing better this season, and the true freshmen who were recruited for this system look even better. This old opinion may need a second look

Don't see the older guys being any better 77, 63 can't handle and speed rusher and 57 gets destroyed by a Big DT... Don't see it at all

Huge difference, as a unit from last year. Last year was one of the all time worst for a TN OL. This year, they have been from average, to pretty good at times... With the same players

You simply don't rush for 200+ yards multiple times against ranked opponents on RB / QB talent alone

Totally agree with this. The pass blocking at times is still miserable but the overall play is better. I think the big problem is talent the older guys just arent that talented.
