You have a scouting buddy, but think a few cold, fall ball "live ABs", are going to change a teams opinion on his upside? 🤔
I'll play.
That has what exactly to do with his draft grade right now?
Has absolutely nothing to do with this draft. I am talking about why he needs 3 years of college. He is a raw athlete that hasn't hit for scouts against good competion. This is why he is a 3-10 round guy now. If he hits SEC pitching 3 years from now he is a first rounder and a rich guy. He needs as many ABs to get there and that is why he shouldn't play football IMO.
I don't disagree with the notion you should play baseball and not football if you're a "can't miss" guy but those are few. If he hasn't proven he can hit yet, he's high risk. Should keep his options open for football or take the 3rd round pay day and bust his ass for the big check. Not focus on college baseball.
I am using the can't hit tag loosely. If he is a top 10 round HS he can hit. I am just saying it's the tool keeping him from the first round now.
You don't think position players go from 300k draft guys in high school to first rounders in college?I don't know anything about the kid. I'm rejecting the premise of him being unable to get ABs. I also doubtful he magically learns to hit in college. If he goes to college, focuses on baseball, and DOESN'T hit, he walks away from all of this with nothing.
Sign now or play both. It's not going to hurt him in baseball if he's willing to put in the work.
Yes agreed they spend a bunch of time in the cage but we are talking about live ABs. Hitting inside live off live pitchers is no where close to as good as live game at bats.
"In talking to several people this week, the feeling is Thompson's MLB Draft stock is pretty high. Now, we're not saying he's a first round guy or anything, but baseball scouts wouldn't be shocked if he made it into the third or fourth round come this summer.
What worries Tennessee about that is the gamble they would take if they made Thompson their quarterback in this class. With his stock that high, we're hearing he hasn't given anyone a firm commitment that he would be a football player no matter where he was drafted this summer.
If Thompson can't tell Tennessee that, we wouldn't be surprised if the Vols turned up the heat on Hendon Hooker and Jay Urich. We know both quarterbacks continue to listen to the Vols as of now and are mulling a possible visit.
We also wouldn't rule out Keytaon Thompson as someone who takes a look at Tennessee. Remember, he was very high on the Vols a few years ago before Hunter Johnson committed to Tennessee."

Keytaon Thompson a 6'4" 225 pound 4* currently committed to Mississippi state. If we could flip him to us... Wow. Kid is really talented, and he's big and athletic as a QB.
First, I have no problem with you feeling that way. If focusing on the negative things in life and being perpetually miserable is your cup of tea, have at it. Just don't share that misery with everyone else in every single thread. You don't/won't ever approve of 3 star players. We get it. We don't need a constant snooze button of negativity every time one commits to us from you and the other Eeyores.
Second, I just see no purpose in your constant b!tching and moaning about recruiting, only to turn around and see you defending our future as a team and how we will be improved next year and beyond? Do you really not see how ridiculous that idea is if you don't trust and believe in the ability of the personnel in place to accomplish that idea? The two are mutually exclusive. Do you really trust that Butch Jones and the "greatest staff in America" are going to take a bunch of no-talent bozos and "coach 'em up"?
To your first paragraph, its a message board where opinions are free to be shared. If you dont like mine you are welcome to use the ignore button. So suck it up.
To your second paragraph, I personally dont care whats mutually exclusive and whats not on a internet message board. I honestly dont know what will happen with the team next year. One day I might think we will be much better, the next day I might think we will be worse. Its called uncertainty and mind changing. It happens. Get over it. I am one of the few that thought the "best staff in America" was coach speak and nothing more. I never took it literally. If you did, well thats on you. Who knows what Butch will do next year? Can you say with any certainty what will happen next year?
Sorry boss, but this is basically the condensed version of your post:
"I'm a pu$$y and can't take a solid stance on anything for fear of being wrong, so I just waffle on either side of the fence."
